Report: Luke Putkonen has arthroscopic surgery on elbow

Tigers right-hander Luke Putkonen underwent successful arthroscopic surgery Thursday to repair what is basically inflammation in his elbow joint, the team has announced.

Putkonen has been sidelined since mid-April after pitching in just two games this season and giving up eight runs in 2 2/3 innings.

He is expected to be out 6-8 weeks.
