Ryan Zimmerman's defense comes under fire
After registering an error during the first two outings of the three-game showdown against Atlanta, Nationals third baseman Ryan Zimmerman was unable to halt that streak Sunday. Zimmerman was on the hook for another error -- a throwing miscue in the third inning -- that raised concerns among rival scouts.
"If you look at his throwing, you are going to see a few more errors over there this year," a scout told MLB.com. "He is struggling over there trying to get it right. After a while, it's going to become a mental situation. Eventually, he's going to have to come off third base."
Zimmerman entered the season after having right shoulder surgery and has insisted the area is not a problem.
"The shoulder is fine. Everything is fine. Everything feels good," he said before Sunday's game. "Everyone always asks me how I throw or what I throw. Nobody throws the same and nobody hits the same. It's just how I throw. It's the way it is."
