Free agent pitcher Ted Lilly has had the nerve endings in his neck cauterized by a spine specialist, the Los Angeles Times reports. The procedure, which is not considered surgery, gave him relief, his agent said.

Lilly is trying to rebuild his value by pitching in the Venezuelan Winter League this offseason. He made just five starts with the Dodgers last season, going 0-2 with a 5.09 ERA, 1.61 WHIP and 18:10 K:BB ratio in 23 innings.
