Ray (leg) isn't expected to miss any time after being hit with a comebacker during Monday's start against Arizona, Bob Nightengale of USA Today reports.
This is some of the only promising news of the night for San Francisco, as Ray was rocked for 10 runs in 4.1 innings of work, and both Willy Adames (thumb) and Jung Hoo Lee (back) exited with injuries. Ray's next outing tentatively lines up for Sunday against the White Sox.

Ray left Monday's game against the Diamondbacks after being struck with a comebacker in the left leg, Justice delos Santos of The San Jose Mercury News reports. He allowed 10 runs (nine earned) on 11 hits and two walks while striking out one over 4.1 innings.
It's not clear at this time whether Ray actually suffered an injury, or if it was simply a decision by the Giants to pull him after a miserable outing. The club should have another update on Ray's status for his next start in the coming days.

Ray (3-5) allowed four runs (three earned) on seven hits and two walks while striking out two over 4.2 innings to take the loss Wednesday versus the Dodgers.
Ray was tagged for back-to-back solo home runs by Santiago Espinal and Mookie Betts in the third inning. The Giants' offense didn't get much of anything going against Shohei Ohtani, leaving Ray to fend for himself in this loss, which was his shortest start of the season. He's still yet to allow more than three earned runs in any outing. Ray has a 3.04 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 49:20 K:BB through 50.1 innings over nine starts. He's projected for a road start in Arizona his next time out.

Ray (3-4) allowed one run on four hits and four walks while striking out seven over six innings to earn the win over the Pirates on Friday.
Ray earned his fourth quality start of the season with this performance. The lone blemish was a Marcell Ozuna solo home run in the second inning. Ray's not reinventing the wheel at this point in his career -- he racks up steady strikeout numbers while also walking a lot of batters, as he's issued at least three free passes in five of his eight starts this year. So far, he's been good enough to limit the damage, posting a 2.76 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and 47:18 K:BB through 45.2 innings. His next start is lined up to be on the road versus the Dodgers.

Ray (2-4) took the loss Friday against the Rays, allowing three runs on four hits and no walks with five strikeouts across 6.1 innings.
Ray was hurt by the long ball in this one, as he served up solo shots to Yandy Diaz and Junior Caminero in the second and fourth innings. The veteran left-hander was, however, able to record his second start of the season without a free pass after he handed out a National League-high 73 walks last season. Ray has an excellent fastball-slider combination and has pitched great overall this season. The Giants have been shut out in three of his seven starts, and they scored one run in another. Ray owns a 2.95 ERA, 1.06 WHIP and 40:14 K:BB across 39.2 innings.

Ray took a no-decision Saturday against the Marlins, allowing one run on four hits and three walks in five innings. He struck out four.
The southpaw had a hard time finding his control, throwing only 55 of his 97 pitches for strikes, but still managed to scatter four singles across five frames of one-run ball. Although Ray has walked at least three batters in four of his past five starts, he's tossed at least five innings while yielding two runs or fewer in five of his six outings in 2026. Ray will bring a strong 2.70 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 35:14 K:BB over 33.1 innings into his next appearance, which is set come at pitcher-friendly Tropicana Field versus the Rays.

Ray was sharp early, holding Washington scoreless through four innings before running into trouble in the fifth. An RBI double by Keibert Ruiz opened the scoring, and Curtis Mead followed later in the inning with a two-run homer. Despite the blemish, Ray still delivered a quality start, but San Francisco's offense again provided no support, leaving him stuck with another loss. The left-hander continues to pitch well, posting a 2.86 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and a 31:11 K:BB across 28.1 innings and will seek to continue his success in his next outing, where he's set to face Miami.

The southpaw tossed only 52 of 94 pitches for strikes, but it was his command and not his control that ended up costing him -- both Cincy runs came on solo shots by Spencer Steer in the third inning and Sal Stewart in the fourth, when Ray's pitches caught too much of the plate. He has yet to give up more than two runs in a start this season, posting a 2.42 ERA, 1.03 WHIP and 24:10 K:BB through 22.1 innings, and Ray will look for more run support in his next outing, which is scheduled to come on the road this weekend against the Nationals.

Ray (2-1) earned the win over Philadelphia on Tuesday, allowing three hits and issuing three walks while striking out seven batters over 6.2 innings.
Ray has posted exactly seven punchouts in two straight outings and has compiled an 18:6 K:BB through 17.1 frames spanning three starts. His performance Tuesday was his best so far, as he completed six innings for the first time while recording his first quality start and second victory. Ray lowered his ERA to 2.08 and has yet to give up more than two earned runs in an outing. He lines up to make his next start on the road in Cincinnati.
Ray (1-1) earned the win over the Mets on Thursday, allowing two runs on three hits and three walks while striking out seven batters over 5.1 innings.
Ray gave up a run in each of the first and second frames, but he settled down from there and ended his outing by retiring seven of the final eight batters he faced. The left-hander wasn't all that efficient -- he needed 96 pitches to complete 5.1 innings -- but looked dominant at times, racking up a hefty 19 swings-and-misses and seven punchouts. Ray has been solid to begin the campaign, allowing four runs while posting an 11:3 K:BB over his first 10.2 innings across two starts.
