Wren was sent to minor-league camp Tuesday, Bobby Nightengale of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
Wren had been a non-roster invitee but wasn't expected to make the Opening Day roster. The 27-year-old has stalled out at the Triple-A level over the last four years.

Reds' Kyle Wren: Latches on with Reds
Wren signed a minor-league contract with the Reds which includes an invitation to spring training.
Wren spent the entire 2018 campaign at Triple-A, hitting a combined .263/.333/.363 with three homers and 10 stolen bases in 84 games split between Colorado Springs (Brewers) and Pawtucket (Red Sox). He'll provide outfield depth for the Reds in 2019.

Red Sox's Kyle Wren: Inks deal with Boston
Wren signed a minor-league deal with the Red Sox on Wednesday, Chris Cotillo of MassLive.com reports.
Wren was cut loose by the Brewers' organization just over a week ago after spending the majority of the last three seasons at its Triple-A affiliate. Over the course of 45 games with Colorado Springs this year, he slashed .288/.353/.402 with two home runs, 28 RBI and six stolen bases. The 27-year-old will likely report to Triple-A Pawtucket and provide added outfield depth for the Red Sox's system.

Kyle Wren: Released by Brewers
Wren was released by the Brewers on Tuesday, according to Tom Haudricourt of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.
Wren hit .290 over 328 career games with Triple-A Colorado Springs, but that was never good enough to earn him a trip to Milwaukee, so according to GM David Stearns, the Brewers granted him his release in order to let him pursue that opportunity elsewhere.
