Cardinals' Mike Hauschild: Returned to minors camp
Hauschild was reassigned to minor-league camp Monday.
Hauschild was always a long shot to break camp with the Cardinals, and the right-hander did himself no favors this spring, stumbling to a 6.75 ERA and 2:2 K:BB through 5.1 innings of work. The 29-year-old owns a career 7.71 ERA across 16.1 big-league frames, so he likely won't make much of an impact in the majors in 2019.

Cardinals' Mike Hauschild: Inks NRI deal with Cardinals
Hauschild signed a minor-league contract with the Cardinals on Monday that includes an invitation to major-league spring training.
The right-hander started the 2018 season in the Astros organization, but he was released at the end of July after posting just a 4.88 ERA in 19 starts. Hauschild then hopped on with the Blue Jays and managed to log 8.1 innings in the big leagues, allowing four runs on seven hits while producing a 5:4 K:BB. His best bet to make the big-league roster will be as a long reliever, though even that's a long-shot as things stand now.

Blue Jays' Mike Hauschild: Outrighted to Triple-A
Hauschild cleared waivers and will head to Triple-A Buffalo.
Hauschild was designated for assignment Tuesday, and after failing to draw interest while on the waiver wire, he'll report to the Bisons.

Blue Jays' Mike Hauschild: Designated for assignment
Hauschild was designated for assignment by the Blue Jays on Tuesday, Hazel Mae of Sportsnet reports.
Hauschild was removed from the 40-man roster so the Jays could select Jonathan Davis' contract. The 28-year-old has a 4.32 ERA in 8.1 innings for Toronto this season and a 4.90 ERA in 23 starts at the Triple-A level with Fresno and Buffalo.

Blue Jays' Mike Hauschild: Optioned to minors
Hauschild was sent down to Triple-A Buffalo on Thursday, Hazel Mae of Sportsnet.ca reports.
Hauschild will head right back down to the Triple-A level after a dreadful start against Boston on Wednesday. Across just 2.1 innings, he allowed four runs on three hits, three walks and one hit batsman while failing to record a strikeout. This came on the heels of an excellent six-inning relief outing versus Seattle last week, which marked his first big-league appearance of 2018. In a corresponding move, Thomas Pannone was recalled from Buffalo.

Blue Jays' Mike Hauschild: Early exit in loss to BoSox
Hauschild (1-1) took the loss Wednesday as the Blue Jays fell 10-5 to the Red Sox, giving up four runs on three hits and three walks over 2.1 innings without striking out a batter.
The right-hander's first big-league start was a dud, as Hauschild threw only 26 of 51 pitches for strikes before getting the quick hook. The Jays don't have many better options for a rotation spot at hand at the moment, so Hauschild will likely get another chance or two to prove himself. He will at least have a softer opponent in his next scheduled start Monday in Kansas City.

Blue Jays' Mike Hauschild: Picking up first MLB start
Hauschild will start Wednesday against the Red Sox.
The Blue Jays haven't named a new fifth starter since J.A. Happ was traded to the Yankees on July 29, but it appears Hauschild will have a chance to solidify a spot in the rotation. After reliever Tyler Clippard took the hill for one inning Aug. 2 against the Mariners as part of a bullpen game, Hauschild was deployed as the Blue Jays' primary reliever in his team debut. The right-hander was impressive out of the bullpen, tossing six scoreless frames and giving up four hits and one walk while striking out five to capture the win. He'll now be able to build on that performance Wednesday, though expectations should be tempered given his underwhelming numbers at Triple-A this season (4.88 ERA and 1.55 WHIP in 97.2 innings) in addition to the tough matchup versus one of the majors' top offenses.

Blue Jays' Mike Hauschild: Earns first major-league win
Hauschild (1-0) allowed four hits and one walk across six scoreless innings to record the win Thursday against the Mariners.
Hauschild had a busy Thursday, joining the Blue Jays and earning his first major league win in one day. After one inning from Tyler Clippard, Hauschild entered the game and held the Mariners scoreless on the strength of seven groundballs and six strikeouts. His role with the big-league club is unclear going forward, though he posted a 4.88 ERA and 1.55 WHIP across 97 innings at Triple-A Fresno as a member of the Astros organization this season.

Blue Jays' Mike Hauschild: Scooped up by Toronto
Hauschild was signed by the Blue Jays on Thursday, Mike Wilner of Sportsnet 590 The Fan reports.
Hauschild was let go by the Astros on Monday, but he latched on with a new team just days later. He'll head right to the major-league level, and he'll be available out of the bullpen for Thursday's game against Seattle. Hauschild started 19 games at Triple-A Fresno in 2018, posting a 4.88 ERA and 1.55 WHIP with a 93:38 K:BB over 97 frames.

Mike Hauschild: Released by Houston
Hauschild was released by the Astros on Monday, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.
The 28-year-old had a mediocre 4.88 ERA in 19 starts for Triple-A Fresno this season. He has thrown eight career big-league innings, all with the Rangers last season, struggling to an 11.25 ERA.

Astros' Mike Hauschild: Reassigned to minors camp
The Astros reassigned Hauschild to their minor-league camp Sunday, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.
The 28-year-old broke camp with the Rangers in 2017 as a Rule 5 selection, but didn't stick around in the big leagues for long after yielding 10 runs on 14 hits and two walks over just eight innings. That showing coupled with his mediocre numbers at Triple-A Fresno upon being returned to the Astros likely prevented Hauschild from gaining serious consideration for an Opening Day bullpen gig with Houston this spring.

Astros' Mike Hauschild: Returns to Astros
Hauschild cleared waivers and was returned to the Astros organization Saturday.
The Rule 5 selection made the Opening Day roster and made four outings for the Rangers. As a Rule 5 pick, Hauschild was ineligible to be optioned by the Rangers this season and still remain in the organization without first being subjected to waivers. Hauschild struggled mightily through his first three outings and things came to a head when he was touched up for five earned runs -- including three home runs -- over 3.1 innings Wednesday. He's been returned to the Astros' organization and assigned to Triple-A Fresno.

Rangers' Mike Hauschild: Designated for assignment Thursday
Hauschild was designated for assignment Thursday, Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News reports.
The Rangers purchased Anthony Bass' contract and opted to designate Hauschild for assignment. Hauschild has turned in a handful of rough outings this season. Over four games (eight innings), he's allowed 10 runs on 14 hits, five of which were home runs.

Rangers' Mike Hauschild: Surrenders three homers in long relief
Hauschild was tagged for five runs on seven hits -- including three homers -- and one walk over 3.1 innings of relief in Wednesday's 9-1 loss to the Athletics.
With the Rangers trailing 4-0 by the time starter Martin Perez was pulled with two outs in the bottom of the fourth inning, manager Jeff Banister decided it was a good opportunity to have Hauschild, a lightly-used Rule 5 pick, eat some innings. Hauschild wasn't able to stop the bleeding for the Rangers, and at this point, the organization may find it increasingly difficult to justify using the 27-year-old even in lower-leverage situations. He's turned in an 11.25 ERA (10.70 FIP) and served up five homers over four appearances spanning eight innings.

Rangers' Mike Hauschild: Named to Opening Day roster
Hauschild has made the Rangers' Opening Day roster, TR Sullivan of MLB.com reports.
It's still unclear what capacity the team expects to use Hauschild in. With a starting rotation decimated by injuries, he could very well find himself as the fifth starter to open the season or see use as a long-relief specialist. Manager Jeff Banister has insisted upon carrying eight or nine arms in the bullpen, so even if Hauschild misses out on a starting role he could remain with the team for an extended period.

Rangers' Mike Hauschild: Mixed results so far this spring
Hauschild has given up six runs on 14 hits with a 10:4 K:BB over 13.1 innings so far this spring.
The Rule 5 pick struggled in his most recent Cactus League outing, giving up four runs on seven hits and two walks, but manager Jeff Banister told the Dallas Morning News that the team would not "over-evaluate" that one performance. Hauschild was much better in his first four appearances of the spring, allowing three runs on seven hits over 10.1 frames. With Andrew Cashner (shoulder), Tyson Ross (shoulder) and Chi Chi Gonzalez (elbow) all out to begin the season, Hauschild has a shot to break camp as the fifth starter, but Eddie Gamboa and Dillon Gee are in the mix as well.

Rangers' Mike Hauschild: Selected by Rangers in Rule 5 draft
Hauschild was selected by the Rangers with the 16th pick in the Rule 5 draft Thursday.
The 6-foot-3 righty is coming off an impressive season at Triple-A, posting a 3.22 ERA and 119:40 K:BB in 139.2 innings (24 starts). However, as a 26-year-old who will turn 27 before the start of the season and has never reached the big leagues, he has swingman/emergency starter upside. Look for him to be used as a mop-up man for the Rangers if he makes the roster out of camp. He will need to be kept on the active roster all season, otherwise he will be subjected to waivers and offered back to the Astros.
