Mets' P.J. Conlon: Heads to minors
The Mets assigned Conlon to their minor-league camp Tuesday, Deesha Thosar of the New York Daily News reports.
Conlon had been attending big-league camp as a non-roster invitee after he lost his 40-man spot with the Mets shortly after the 2018 season ended. The left-hander, who made a pair of disastrous spot starts for the big club last season, is expected to serve as rotation depth at Triple-A Syracuse during the upcoming campaign.

Mets' P.J. Conlon: Removed from 40-man roster
Conlon was outrighted to Triple-A Syracuse on Friday.
Conlon spent the majority of the 2018 season at the Triple-A level, appearing in 23 games and posting a 6.55 ERA with 82 punchouts over 114 frames, although those numbers were compiled for the Mets' prior affiliate in Las Vegas. He'll be cast off the 40-man roster heading into the offseason but will get a chance to earn his spot back next spring.

Mets' P.J. Conlon: Sent back to Triple-A
Conlon was optioned to Triple-A Las Vegas on Friday.
Conlon threw a pair of scoreless innings against the Phillies on Tuesday, his only action in his latest big-league stint. He was optioned to make room for Noah Syndergaard (finger), who was activated from the disabled list in a corresponding move.

Conlon was recalled from Triple-A Las Vegas on Monday.
Conlon has made a pair of starts for the Mets this season, struggling to a 11.12 ERA and failing to get out of the fourth inning in either game. He's up to take the place of starter Chris Flexen, though whether or not he'll be a member of the Mets' rotation is unclear, with Drew Gagnon set to join the rotation and start Tuesday. Conlon's role could be determined by the availability of Noah Syndergaard (finger), who may or may not be ready to return before the All-Star break.

Conlon was claimed off waivers by the Mets on Wednesday, Mike Puma of the New York Post reports.
Conlon was designated for assignment by New York a week ago, but will return to the organization and report to Triple-A Las Vegas after an ultra-brief stint with the Dodgers. Over two starts with the Mets this year, he allowed seven earned runs on 12 hits in just 5.2 innings. He will serve as rotational depth for the club moving forward. In a corresponding move, Phillip Evans was designated for assignment.

Dodgers' P.J. Conlon: Claimed by Dodgers
Conlon was claimed off waivers by the Dodgers on Saturday.
He was designated for assignment by the Mets earlier in the week and the Dodgers thought he was worth one of their 40-man roster spots. Conlon was assigned to Triple-A Oklahoma City. He has a 6.58 ERA (5.05 FIP) and 1.54 WHIP with 33 strikeouts in 39.2 innings (eight starts) at the Triple-A level this season, but the Dodgers have had success turning scrapheap lefties into useful big-league relievers.

The Mets needed to open up a spot on their 40-man roster for the addition of Scott Copeland, whose contract was purchased from Triple-A Las Vegas on Wednesday, and Conlon was the corresponding roster casualty. Conlon made two starts for the big club this season, allowing seven runs on 12 hits and two walks across 5.2 innings. He'll report to the 51s if he passes through waivers untouched.

Conlon was optioned to Triple-A Las Vegas on Tuesday, Matt Ehalt of The Bergen Record reports.
Conlon was shipped back to the minors after allowing four runs on eight hits across just two innings in a spot start in Game 2 of Monday's doubleheader against the Braves. The 24-year-old will rejoin the 51s' rotation, where he owns an unsightly 6.58 ERA across eight starts (39.2 innings) this season.

Mets' P.J. Conlon: Takes no-decision despite clunker in spot start
Conlon allowed four runs on eight hits and struck out a batter over just two innings in a no-decision Monday against Atlanta.
Luckily for Conlon, the Mets were able to stage a comeback, but he had nothing to fool Atlanta's lineup. He was touched up for a pair of doubles and a home run among the eight hits and managed just 28 strikes on 46 pitches. Conlon was only forced to take the start after the Mets needed Seth Lugo for 1.1 innings in Game 1 of Monday's doubleheader; it's unclear if Conlon will return to New York's bullpen or get the boot to Triple-A Las Vegas after this stinker.

Conlon will start Game 2 of Monday's doubleheader against the Braves, Matt Ehalt of The Bergen Record reports.
Seth Lugo, who was originally going to start the second game of Monday's twin bill, is unavailable after tossing 1.1 innings in Game 1, so Conlon will take the ball instead. The 24-year-old struggled in a spot start for the big club earlier in the year, allowing three runs on four hits and two walks across 3.2 innings against the Reds. He'll likely head back to the minors and rejoin the Triple-A Las Vegas' rotation following Monday's outing.

Conlon was recalled from Triple-A Las Vegas on Sunday, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.
Conlon will make his way back to the majors to take Chris Flexen's place in the bullpen. Flexen was optioned to Las Vegas after allowing seven runs (three earned) over two innings of relief Saturday against the Brewers. Conlon will likely find himself throwing in low-leverage relief situations for the Mets.

Conlon enjoyed a strong enough start through two scoreless innings, but he began to unravel a bit in the third, allowing a solo home run to Billy Hamilton. He ran into more trouble in the fourth, allowing two more runs on three hits before he was pulled with two outs. Conlon struggled in the minor leagues at the start of the season, and this uninspiring outing will likely make his stay with the big club a brief one.

Conlon had his contract selected from Triple-A Las Vegas and will start for the Mets on Monday against Cincinnati.
Conlon received a spring training invite from the Mets, but didn't quite make the cut and started the season at the Triple-A level. It's been a bit of a rocky road since, as the left-hander owns a 6.75 ERA and 1-2 record across five starts for the Aces. The 24-year-old will now make his MLB debut Monday against a Cincinnati squad that, entering Sunday, has the fourth-worst batting average (.242) against left-handed pitching this season.
