Braves' Jose Devers: Not yet retiring
Devers (undisclosed) did not retire as previously reported and plans to continue his playing career, Lindsay Crosby of AthlonSports.com reports.
A previous report suggested that Devers had retired, but that report apparently came about due to an error in translation. He will continue to rehab an undisclosed injury that has kept him from playing for Triple-A Gwinnett since June 1. The 25-year-old infielder has maintained a .276/.279/.431 slash line across 61 plate appearances with Gwinnett this season.

Jose Devers: Playing days over
Devers has decided to retire from baseball, Lindsay Crosby of AthlonSports.com reports.
Devers briefly reached the majors with the Marlins in 2024, but he had spent the entirety of the 2025 campaign with Triple-A Gwinnett. Only 25, the reason for Devers' decision is not known.

Braves' Jose Devers: Bid for Opening Day roster ends
Atlanta reassigned Devers to minor-league camp Tuesday.
Devers appeared in three big-league games for the Marlins in 2024, but he otherwise spent much of the season at the Triple-A level, slashing .228/.293/.360 with three home runs and three stolen bases across 209 plate appearances for Jacksonville. After falling short in his bid for winning a bench role on Atlanta's Opening Day roster, Devers is likely to spent most of the season with the organization's top affiliate in Gwinnett.

Braves' Jose Devers: Catches on with Atlanta
Devers signed a minor-league contract with Atlanta on Thursday, Aram Leighton of Just Baseball reports.
Devers appeared in three regular-season games for the Marlins in 2024, though he logged just four plate appearances over that span. He spent most of last season in Triple-A Jacksonville, where he slashed .228/.293/.653 with three stolen bases, three home runs and 18 RBI over 209 plate appearances. He'll get a fresh start in Atlanta, where he'll likely begin the 2025 campaign with Triple-A Gwinnett.

Marlins' Jose Devers: Clears waivers
The Marlins outrighted Devers to Triple-A Jacksonville on Sunday.
After receiving a call-up from Jacksonville on Aug. 31, Devers logged just four plate appearances over three games before being removed from Miami's 40-man roster Thursday. The infielder will remain in the organization after clearing waivers.

Marlins' Jose Devers: Designated for assignment
The Marlins designated Devers for assignment Thursday, Isaac Azout of FishOnFirst.com reports.
Devers was recalled at the start of September but has played sparingly this month while dealing with a hand injury. The 24-year-old slashed just .228/.293/.360 across 209 plate appearances this season with Triple-A Jacksonville.

Marlins' Jose Devers: Suffers hand injury
Devers exited Friday's game against the Phillies with an apparent hand injury, MLB.com reports.
Playing first base for the first time in his career in a blowout loss, Devers was trying to field an errant throw from Connor Norby in the eighth inning and collided with Johan Rojas in the process. The severity of the issue is not currently clear.

Marlins' Jose Devers: Summoned from Triple-A
The Marlins selected Devers' contract from Triple-A Jacksonville on Saturday.
Devers has spent most of the season with Jacksonville, where he's slashed .228/.293/.360 with 18 RBI across 209 plate appearances, though he does have MLB experience -- he played 21 games with Miami in 2021. He'll now be called upon to give the Marlins some extra infield depth as Vidal Brujan (shoulder) lands on the injured list. Xavier Edwards (back) is trending toward a return from the injured list in early September, however, so Devers' stay in Miami may be short.

Marlins' Jose Devers: Designated for assignment
Devers was designated for assignment by the Marlins on Tuesday.
Devers made his MLB debut in 2021 but spent last season at Double-A Pensacola, and the Marlins won't keep him on the 40-man roster after he posted a .210/.265/.313 slash line in 58 games.

Marlins' Jose Devers: Reinstated, optioned to minors
The Marlins activated Devers (shoulder) from the 10-day injured list Monday and optioned him to Double-A Pensacola, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.
Devers opened the season on the shelf while he continued to recover from August surgery to address a rotator cuff issue in his right shoulder. His recovery program lingered into the first month of the campaign before he began a rehab assignment at Single-A Jupiter last week. Devers' shoulder apparently responded well to his two games in Jupiter, but since Miami didn't have a spot for him on the big-league roster, he'll play regularly at the Double-A level with the hope of earning a call-up to the majors at some point later on in the season.

Marlins' Jose Devers: Ready for game action
Devers (shoulder) will begin a rehab assignment with Single-A Jupiter on Thursday, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.
He'll take part in his first game action since last July, after he was shut down with a torn labrum in his right shoulder that later required surgery. Due to his extended absence, Devers will likely remain on his rehab assignment for close to the full 20-day window before the Marlins activate him from the 10-day injured list. Once Miami reinstates him, Devers will likely be optioned to Triple-A Jacksonville or Double-A Pensacola.

Marlins' Jose Devers: Returns to live at-bats
Devers (shoulder) is serving as the designated hitter in extended spring training games, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.
Devers has been ramping up in recent weeks, engaging in live batting practice and increasing his throwing distance. He's now taking live at-bats, though he'll likely need to prove capable of playing competent defense prior to being activated. Devers is expected to begin his season at Triple-A Jacksonville once fully cleared.

Marlins' Jose Devers: Close to game action
Devers (shoulder) has steadily increased his throwing distance off flat ground and could be ready to play in games at extended spring training, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.
While he's worked his way through a throwing program as he makes his way back from labrum surgery, Devers has simultaneously been taking batting practice. He may already be capable of serving as a designated hitter, but the Marlins presumably want to see Devers play third base comfortably before activating him from the 10-day injured list. Unless the Marlins endure a barrage of injuries at the corner-infield spots once Devers is ready to come off the IL, the 22-year-old will likely be optioned to Triple-A Jacksonville at the conclusion of his rehab assignment.

Marlins' Jose Devers: Throwing and hitting again
Devers (shoulder) has been throwing at 90 feet and taking live batting practice at extended spring training in recent days, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.
Devers is gradually upping his throwing distance and increasing his baseball activities, but he still doesn't appear to be particularly close to beginning a minor-league rehab assignment. Once he's cleared for game action, Devers will likely use nearly all of his 20-day rehab window in the minors, considering that he missed all of spring training and most of the second half of the 2021 season while recovering from surgery to repair a torn labrum in his right shoulder.

Marlins' Jose Devers: Begins season on injured list
The Marlins placed Devers (shoulder) on the 10-day injured list Thursday, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.
Devers is still in rehab mode from the surgery he required last August to address right shoulder impingement syndrome, a conditioned related to the rotator cuff. The 22-year-old had been throwing in spring training, but he didn't feature in any of the Marlins' Grapefruit League games. He's likely multiple weeks away from being ready to return from the IL.

Marlins' Jose Devers: On throwing program
Manager Don Mattingly said Saturday that Devers (shoulder) is on a throwing program and hasn't yet been cleared to throw in games, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.
Devers missed the second half of the 2021 season due to a shoulder injury and underwent surgery to repair a posterior labrum tear in his right shoulder in mid-August. With just under three weeks remaining until Opening Day, it's possible that he'll require a stint on the injured list to begin the regular season.

Marlins' Jose Devers: Undergoes shoulder surgery
Devers underwent surgery Tuesday to repair a posterior labrum tear in his right shoulder, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.
Devers first landed on the shelf in mid-June with the shoulder injury and was pulled from his rehab assignment a month later after suffering a setback. The Marlins haven't announced a timeline for his return, though the 21-year-old shouldn't be expected to return this season after undergoing significant shoulder surgery.

Marlins' Jose Devers: Shifts to 60-day IL
Devers (shoulder) was transferred to the 60-day injured list Tuesday, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.
Devers was recently pulled from his rehab assignment with Triple-A Jacksonville, and he apparently suffered a setback that will prolong his absence. The 21-year-old landed on the 10-day IL with right shoulder inflammation June 14, so he won't be eligible to return until mid-August.

Marlins' Jose Devers: Rehab paused
Devers (shoulder) was removed from his rehab assignment and will continue his recovery at the Marlins' spring training facility, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.
Devers has missed over a month with a shoulder issue. He's played in three rehab games, though the latest came back on July 8. He's presumably suffered some sort of setback, but the Marlins have yet to elaborate on the move.

Marlins' Jose Devers: Begins rehab assignment
Devers (shoulder) will report to Triple-A Jacksonville to begin a rehab assignment Saturday, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.
Devers landed on the shelf in mid-June with right shoulder discomfort, but he's nearing his return to the Marlins, although the club has acquired another utility infielder in Joe Panik in the meantime. The 21-year-old should only require a few rehab appearances given the brevity of his absence.
