Mets' David Peterson: Continues to struggle
Peterson (0-3) took the loss against the Dodgers on Monday, allowing four runs on five hits and four walks while striking out seven batters over five innings.
Though his stat line was far from pretty, things could have been much worse for Peterson -- he opened the game by allowing four straight batters to reach base and was down 1-0 with the bases loaded and no outs. The lefty managed to escape the jam by striking out the final three batters he faced in the frame, but he couldn't pull off another magic act in the third, when he served up a three-run homer to Andy Pages. Peterson promisingly fanned a season-high seven batters, but he also issued a season-high four walks and threw only 55 of 89 pitches for strikes. He's now 0-3 on the campaign and holds an unattractive 6.41 ERA, 1.83 WHIP and 21:10 K:BB over 19.2 innings spanning four starts.

Mets' David Peterson: Allows five runs in loss
Peterson (0-2) was tagged with the loss Wednesday against the Diamondbacks after allowing five runs on six hits and two walks across five innings. He struck out six.
Peterson opened the season with 5.1 scoreless innings against the Pirates on March 28, but the wheels have fallen off completely in the last two starts. He's given up 11 runs (10 earned) on 15 hits and four walks while striking out 11 across 9.1 innings. It's too early to say if his spot in the rotation is at risk, but the left-hander naturally can't afford many more stumbles. Peterson's next start won't be any easier, as he's tentatively lined up to face the Dodgers on the road next week.

Mets' David Peterson: Struggles in defeat
Peterson (0-1) took the loss against San Francisco on Thursday, allowing six runs (five earned) on nine hits and two walks while striking out five batters over 4.1 innings.
The Mets gave Peterson a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning, but he quickly gave that back plus more, as the Giants responded with three runs in the bottom half of the frame. Things didn't get any better for Peterson from there -- he yielded two more runs in the third and was charged with one more following his departure in the fifth. Peterson did manage to fan five batters, but his overall line was pretty destructive for fantasy managers who deployed him. This was certainly a letdown for Peterson after he shut out Pittsburgh across 5.1 innings during his season debut March 28.

Mets' David Peterson: Solid effort in no-decision
Peterson did not factor into the decision in Saturday's 4-2 extra-innings win over the Pirates, allowing six hits and two walks with three strikeouts over 5.1 scoreless innings.
Peterson threw 51 of 76 pitches for strikes while generating eight whiffs, exiting two outs shy of a quality start. The southpaw earned an All-Star nod in 2025 before stumbling to a 6.34 ERA over 59.2 innings in the second half. He's coming off a career-high 168.2 innings overall and should benefit from backing by a strong Mets offense. The 30-year-old lines up for a road start against the Giants next week.

Mets' David Peterson: Sharp in final exhibition outing
Peterson gave up one run on five hits and a walk over five innings in Sunday's Grapefruit League game against the Marlins. He struck out four.
The left-hander tossed 50 of 76 pitches for strikes in his final spring start. Peterson wraps up camp with a 4.15 ERA and 9:3 K:BB over 13 innings, and after working a career-high 168.2 innings in 2025, he's in line to start the second game of the season for the Mets, March 28 at home against the Pirates.

Mets' David Peterson: Three clean frames Wednesday
Peterson gave up one hit and two walks over three scoreless innings during Wednesday's exhibition game against Team Israel. He struck out four.
The Israeli WBC lineup doesn't have any big MLB names in it, and Peterson had little trouble navigating his three frames on 48 pitches (28 strikes). The southpaw is locked into a rotation spot for the Mets after throwing a career-high 168.2 innings in 2025, but his 4.22 ERA and 1.37 WHIP were significant downgrades from his 2024 numbers.

Mets' David Peterson: Avoids arbitration with Mets
The Mets and Peterson avoided arbitration by agreeing to a one-year, $8.1 million contract Thursday, Joel Sherman of the New York Post reports.
It's a nice bump in pay for Peterson, who had been eligible for arbitration for the final time. The lefty faded down the stretch for the Mets in 2025 but still finished with a solid 4.22 ERA and 150:65 K:BB over 168.2 innings covering 30 starts.
