Red Sox's Mickey Gasper: Set for biceps surgery Friday
Gasper will undergo surgery Friday to repair a torn right biceps, Rob Bradford of WEEI.com reports.
Gasper's biceps tendon tore completely off the bone on a swinging strikeout during a Sept. 25 contest against the Cubs. He will be unavailable for the entirety of the postseason, and it's unclear how long the rehab process will take. Assuming health, Gasper should be in the mix for a utility role with the Red Sox again next season after slashing .251/.357/.466 with 10 home runs and a 27:39 BB:K over 67 games in 2026.

The Red Sox placed Gasper on the 10-day injured list Sunday, retroactive to Sept. 26, with a right biceps strain.
Gasper was hurt on a swinging strikeout during the first game of Friday's doubleheader against the Cubs, and the injury has been deemed significant. Boston is expected to be without Gasper for at least the wild-card round and could be without his services for the entire postseason. He ends the regular season having hit 10 homers with an .823 OPS across 225 MLB plate appearances.

Gasper will likely miss the AL Wild Card Series against the Yankees after suffering a biceps injury during the first game of Friday's doubleheader against the Cubs, Christopher Smith of MassLive.com reports.
The results of Gasper's MRI have not been disclosed, but it sounds like the Red Sox are preparing to be without him for at least the first round of the playoffs. Gasper was injured on a swinging strikeout in the fifth inning of Friday's matinee. Manager Chad Tracy said afterward that Gasper was in "some pretty good discomfort."

Red Sox's Mickey Gasper: Undergoing MRI
Red Sox manager Chad Tracy said after the first game of Friday's doubleheader against the Cubs that Gasper (biceps) will undergo an MRI, Gabrielle Starr of the Boston Herald reports.
Gasper was forced from the matinee with right biceps discomfort, and the team has ordered imaging to get a better read on his condition. The Red Sox are already facing the possibility of being without Willson Contreras (hand) in the wild-card round, and if both Contreras and Gasper are unavailable, Nick Sogard may be needed at first base.

Red Sox's Mickey Gasper: Leaves with biceps discomfort
Gasper was removed from the first game of Friday's doubleheader against the Cubs due to right biceps discomfort, Ian Browne of MLB.com reports.
Gasper has been a surprisingly productive player for Boston this season, slashing .251/.357/.466 with 10 homers in 67 games, but his availability for the rest of the weekend is up in the air in light of this injury. If healthy, Gasper figures to factor in heavily during the wild-card round, especially if Willson Contreras (hand) remains out.

The club should have more information on Gasper's condition soon. He struck out in all three plate appearances Friday before departing.

Gasper entered as a pinch hitter in the eighth inning and swatted a solo home run in Tuesday's 3-2 loss to Cleveland.
Gasper tied the game at 2-2 and remained in the contest as the designated hitter. His bat has quieted down following a power surge (1.000 SLG) that saw him hit eight home runs over a 16-game stretch from mid-August to Sept. 4. In the 14 subsequent games, Gasper has gone 5-for-33 while slugging .333.

Red Sox's Mickey Gasper: Taking seat Tuesday
Gasper is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Angels, Ari Alexander of 7 News Boston reports.
Gasper started the previous eight contests and will receive a day off after batting .231 (6-for-26) with a double, three homers and a 7:6 BB:K during that span. Willson Contreras (hamstring) could be back from the injured list as soon as Friday, but the Red Sox may try to keep Gasper in the lineup however they can given his recent offensive production. Nick Sogard will pick up a start at first base Tuesday while Andruw Monasterio handles the keystone.

Red Sox's Mickey Gasper: Supplies lone run Friday
Gasper went 2-for-4 with a solo home run during the Red Sox's 1-0 win over the Orioles on Friday.
Gasper's solo homer off Shane Baz in the first inning proved to be the only run scored in Friday's affair. Gasper has made the most of his opportunities in the big leagues, and the Red Sox will lean on him now due to Willson Contreras (hamstring) being on the 10-day injured list. Since mid-August, Gasper has gone 17-for-45 (.378) with eight home runs, 15 RBI and 11 runs scored. If he continues his strong play at the plate, the Red Sox may have to make some tough roster decisions when one of Contreras, Curtis Mead (wrist) or Masataka Yoshida (hamstring) returns from the IL.

Gasper went 2-for-5 with a double and a run scored in Wednesday's 8-3 loss to the Mariners.
Gasper continued an unexpected power surge that began with his return to the majors Aug. 17 -- he's gone 15-for-38 (.395) with four doubles, seven homers and 14 RBI over 14 games around a very short-lived trip to the minors for one day earlier this week. The versatile Gasper made a third consecutive start at first base in place of the injured Willson Contreras, and the Red Sox will find a spot for Gasper somewhere if he continues to hit like this.

He's gone deep in back-to-back games and has seven homers over his last 13 games since being recalled from Triple-A Worcester on Aug. 16. The Red Sox recalled Gasper from Triple-A Worcester on Monday, and he'll start at first base and bat second in the team's series opener versus the Mariners.
Boston optioned Gasper to Triple-A on Sunday, but he'll wind up rejoining the big club just one day later after Willson Contreras (hamstring) was placed on the 10-day injured list in a corresponding move. The Red Sox will plug Gasper in right away at Contreras' spot in the field, though Nick Sogard could also be in the mix for starts at first base while Contreras is on the shelf. Gasper has acquitted himself well at the plate over his various stints in the big leagues this season, slashing a collective .278/.374/.466 with five home runs, 19 RBI and 17 runs across 45 games.

While starting in each of Boston's last five games, Gasper went 5-for-15 with three home runs, one double, two walks, eight RBI and three runs.
