  • Angels' Charles Leblanc: Optioned to Triple-A

The Angels optioned Leblanc to Triple-A Salt Lake on Friday. Leblanc will end up as the Angels' roster casualty as Kevin Pillar (thumb) returns from the 10-day injured list. The 28-year-old Leblanc appeared in nine games after being recalled from the minors Sept. 1, going 3-for-15 with two homers, six RBI and five runs scored.

  • Angels' Charles Leblanc: Clubs second homer

Leblanc went 1-for-3 with a solo home run, a walk and two runs scored in Monday's 8-4 loss to the White Sox. Leblanc is batting just .200 (4-for-20) over nine major-league contests this season, though two of his hits have been homers. He's added six RBI and four runs scored. He's filling a reserve role in an injury-ravaged Angels infield, so his playing time is unlikely to rise much.

  • Angels' Charles Leblanc: Lifts homer in loss

Leblanc went 1-for-4 with a three-run home run in Sunday's 7-4 loss to the Rangers. Leblanc provided the bulk of the Angels' scoring with his fourth-inning blast off Andrew Heaney. The homer was his second hit in five games with the Angels this season, though the infielder has maintained a decent .254/.379/.437 slash line over 98 games with Triple-A Salt Lake. Leblanc is unlikely to see much more than short-side platoon usage over the final three weeks of the season, and even then, he's not guaranteed to play against every opposing southpaw.

  • Angels' Charles Leblanc: Summoned from Triple-A

The Angels recalled Leblanc from Triple-A Salt Lake prior to Sunday's 3-2 win over the Mariners. He will join Jack Lopez and Michael Stefanic as utility options in the Angels infield, but it may take an injury or two for Leblanc to see steady playing time. Aside from a brief stint with the Halos in August, Leblanc had spent the entire season at Salt Lake, producing an .816 OPS over 414 plate appearances.

  • Angels' Charles Leblanc: Called up Saturday

The Angels selected Leblanc's contract from Triple-A Salt Lake on Saturday. Leblanc will join the major-league roster after producing a .262 average with 12 home runs, 48 RBI, 51 runs scored and four stolen bases over 81 games with Salt Lake this season. With Luis Rengifo (wrist) being placed on the 10-day injured list Saturday, Leblanc may be thrust into regular at-bats with the big-league club at third base.

  • Angels' Charles Leblanc: Signs with Halos

Leblanc signed a minor-league deal with the Angels on Sunday. The 27-year-old infielder made his big-league debut in 2022 but spent all of 2023 with the Marlins' Triple-A affiliate. Leblanc slashed .252/.384/.423 with 12 home runs and four steals in 94 games in the International League, good for a 108 wRC+. He saw time at second base, third base, first base and left field last season.

  • Marlins' Charles Leblanc: Healthy at Triple-A

Leblanc (back) has appeared in two of Triple-A Jacksonville's first three games of the season, going 3-for-8 with two solo home runs and two walks. Leblanc, who hit .263 in 169 plate appearances as a rookie with the Marlins a season ago, opened the season in the minors after being outrighted off the 40-man roster in January. Though the 26-year-old received the opportunity to compete for a spot on the Opening Day roster in spring training, a back injury prevented him from playing in any Grapefruit League games until March 26, effectively ending any hopes he had of winning a reserve role with the big club. He should continue to play semi-regularly at Triple-A now that he's presumably back to full health.

  • Marlins' Charles Leblanc: DFA'd by Marlins

Leblanc was designated for assignment by Miami on Wednesday, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports. After the signing of fellow infielder Jean Segura was officially announced on Wednesday, Leblanc was DFA'd by the Marlins in order to make room for Segura on the 40-man roster. Leblanc cracked the big leagues for the first time in his career in 2022 and was able to hold his own, slashing .263/.320/.404 through 169 plate appearances. His consistent production at the plate last season signals he will almost certainly be claimed by another club within the next few days.

  • Marlins' Charles Leblanc: Goes to bench Monday

Leblanc is out of the lineup for Monday's game against Atlanta, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports. Leblanc will head to the bench for the series opener after he went 1-for-13 while starting four of the past five games. Lewin Diaz and Jon Berti will start at first and second base, respectively, while Leblanc is on the bench.

  • Marlins' Charles Leblanc: Out of Sunday's lineup

Leblanc is not in the lineup for Sunday's game against the Nationals, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports. Leblanc started the last five games and will step out of the lineup after he went 6-for-19 with a home run, a double, three RBI and two runs during that stretch. The 26-year-old has a .246/.300/.415 slash line with two home runs, eight RBI and a 35.7 percent strikeout rate through 18 games in September.

  • Marlins' Charles Leblanc: Hitting third against righty

Leblanc is starting at second base and hitting third Tuesday against the Cubs, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports. The Marlins seemingly have four or five infielders to move around between second base, third base and shortstop, and Leblanc has typically seen more work against lefties. However, he is hitting in a prime lineup spot in this one even with righty Adrian Sampson starting for Chicago. Leblanc is 5-for-12 with a home run, two doubles and a stolen base over his last three games.

  • Marlins' Charles Leblanc: Out of Sunday's lineup

Leblanc is not in the lineup for Sunday's game at Washington, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports. Leblanc has a .265/.286/.441 slash line and a 42.9 percent strikeout rate in his past nine games and will take a seat Sunday for the second time in Miami's last three contests. Jon Berti will shift to the keystone while Bryan De La Cruz starts in left field.

  • Marlins' Charles Leblanc: Gaining playing time

Leblanc will start at second base and bat sixth in Wednesday's game against the Phillies, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports. He'll be manning the keystone for the fourth straight contest after going 2-for-10 with two doubles, a walk, two RBI and a run across the past three contests. Leblanc appears to be gaining a foothold as the primary option at second base, with the Marlins seeming to be transitioning Jon Berti to more of a utility role. Since making his last start at second base Sunday, Berti has picked up two turns in left field and one at third base.

  • Marlins' Charles Leblanc: Nabs fourth straight start

Leblanc will start at second base and bat leadoff in Sunday's game in Atlanta, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports. Leblanc will stick in the starting nine for the fourth game in a row, the last three of which have come with Jon Berti (hip) on the bench. Though Leblanc has posted a respectable .771 OPS though 84 plate appearances in the big leagues this season, he still may have to settle for a utility role once Berti rejoins the lineup.

  • Marlins' Charles Leblanc: Homers in win

Leblanc went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in a 3-0 win over Oakland on Monday. Leblanc put Miami on the board with a solo homer to left field in the second inning, and that was all the scoring the team needed as Edward Cabrera and Tanner Scott combined on a shutout. The homer was the second of the season for Leblanc, whose other long ball came July 31 in his second big-league contest. The 26-year-old is batting a robust .322 on the campaign, but he's gone just 3-for-20 over his past seven contests.

  • Marlins' Charles Leblanc: Not in Friday's lineup

Leblanc is out of the lineup for Friday's game versus Atlanta, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports. The 26-year-old started the past 11 games after having his contract selected by Miami in late July, but the returns of veterans Jon Berti (groin) and Brian Anderson (shoulder) from the injured list Friday could limit the rookie's playing time going forward. However, Leblanc has a .410/.425/.590 slash line with a home run, four doubles, two RBI, five runs and two stolen bases through his first 11 big-league games, so the Marlins figure to continue giving him some opportunities.

  • Marlins' Charles Leblanc: Steals second bag

Leblanc went 1-for-4 with a run scored and a stolen base in Thursday's win over the Phillies. Getting another start at third base and hitting sixth, Leblanc extended his hitting streak to six games while swiping his second bag in four attempts since making his big-league debut July 30. The 26-year-old is batting a remarkable .410 (16-for-39) with four doubles and a homer in the majors, and while some regression is inevitable, he was slashing .302/.381/.503 through 87 games at Triple-A Jacksonville prior to his promotion. Brian Anderson (shoulder) is close to coming off the IL, but he could have a hard time reclaiming significant playing time at the hot corner while Leblanc remains locked in.

  • Marlins' Charles Leblanc: Settling into everyday role

Leblanc will start at third base and bat ninth in Tuesday's game against the Reds, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports. The 26-year-old will draw his fourth straight start at third base after he 4-for-11 with a solo home run, two doubles and an additional run over his first three contests in the big leagues. Though Leblanc doesn't possess much of a pedigree, he demonstrated a nice blend of hitting for contact (.302 average) and power (14 home runs) over his 360 plate appearances at Triple-A Jacksonville prior to his call-up last weekend. Leblanc should have a chance to stick in a near-everyday role in the infield until the Marlins get one of Brian Anderson (shoulder) or Jon Berti (groin) back from the injured list.

  • Marlins' Charles Leblanc: Contract selected by Marlins

Leblanc's contract was selected by the Marlins on Friday, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports. Leblanc made an impact at Triple-A Jacksonville to begin the season, slashing .302/.381/.503 with 14 homers, 47 runs, 46 RBI and six stolen bases over 87 games. The 26-year-old hasn't yet made his major-league debut but will be rewarded with a spot on the active roster as infield depth after Willians Astudillo was designated for assignment.
