Tyrus Thomas is going to Germany. The 29-year-old, who was picked No. 4 overall in 2006, has signed with Eisbaeren Bremerhaven, as first reported by Yahoo Sports' Marc Spears and confirmed by the team.

You might have missed Thomas' most recent stint in the NBA. After joining the D-League's Iowa Energy last season, the Memphis Grizzlies called him up on a 10-day contract in January. He appeared in two games for Memphis, and scored four points in seven minutes. That was it.

Before that, Thomas had been off the radar for a while. He signed a five-year, $40 million deal with the Charlotte Bobcats back in 2010, but that didn't work out -- they amnestied him in the summer of 2013. He didn't resurface until he signed with the Energy in January. At that point, Thomas said that he'd been "miserable" while away from the game, and he had totally stopped watching basketball before deciding to attempt a comeback.

Thomas recently told Basketball Insiders that he was "only at about 50 percent" when he was with the Grizzlies. This summer, he participated in the Toronto Raptors' free agent minicamp and went to Las Vegas for Tim Grgurich's camp. The goal was to get back to the NBA this coming season, but that won't happen now. He'll have to prove himself overseas if he wants another shot.
