Top Justin Holiday News

  • Nuggets' Justin Holiday: Will join reigning champs

Holiday and the Nuggets agreed Sunday on a one-year deal, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports.

Holiday gives Denver another floor spacer that can thrive playing with Jamal Murray and Nikola Jokic. He shot just 32.2 percent from three last season, but he's at 36.3 percent for his career. The Nuggets were able to retain a majority of their rotational pieces from the championship run, but they did lose Bruce Brown and Jeff Green, who combined to average 48 minutes per game last year. Holiday should be able to claim a few of those minutes, but his playing time will likely depend on how big of a role Christian Braun can carve out in Year 2.

  • Mavericks' Justin Holiday: Posts solid line off bench

Holiday provided 11 points (5-11 FG, 1-6 3Pt, 0-1 FT), six rebounds, three assists, two steals and one block across 26 minutes during Friday's 115-112 loss to the Bulls.

Holiday was one of six players to score in double figures for the Mavericks on a night in which five key rotation players sat out for rest purposes or injury management, while Luka Doncic was limited to just 13 minutes. With Dallas eliminated from the postseason, expect all five players plus Doncic to remain sidelined for Sunday's game against the Spurs, potentially paving the way for Holiday to take on elevated playing time and increased usage on the offensive end.

  • Mavericks' Justin Holiday: Limited during Monday's win

Holiday ended with four points (1-2 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 2-2 FT) and two rebounds in nine minutes during Monday's 127-104 victory over the Pacers.

Even with Maxi Kleber (hamstring) sidelined, Holiday was unable to make a significant impact. He's scored in double figures during just one of his 12 March appearances, averaging 3.3 points in 14.7 minutes during that stretch.

  • Mavericks' Justin Holiday: Contributes across board

Holiday chipped in 11 points (4-9 FG, 3-7 3Pt), two rebounds, two assists, three blocks and two steals across 31 minutes during Tuesday's 120-116 win over the Jazz.

Holiday scored in double figures for the first time since Feb. 23, and he also made an impact with his effort on defense. He tied his season high in both blocks and steals and has now notched a pair of steals in back-to-back matchups. Holiday logged a season-high 31 minutes Tuesday evening, so it'll be worth keeping an eye on his workload going forward, especially if he continues to put up numbers on the defensive end.

  • Mavericks' Justin Holiday: Starting Sunday

Holiday will start Sunday's matchup against the Lakers, Ryan Ward of LakersNation.com reports.

Holiday was lights out from three during his Dallas debut and will slide into the starting lineup for his second game with his new squad, pushing Josh Green to the bench. Holiday's ability to space the floor should open up more space for Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving to operate.

  • Mavericks' Justin Holiday: Lights out in Dallas debut

Holiday supplied 15 points (5-7 FG, 5-6 3Pt), two rebounds and two steals in 21 minutes during Thursday's 142-116 victory over San Antonio.

Holiday joined Dallas ahead of the All-Star festivities and was deemed available for the final contest before the break but ultimately didn't see any minutes, making Thursday's appearance his first as a Maverick. The sharpshooter certainly took advantage of Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving's playmaking prowess and knocked down a quintet of open triples, marking a season high. Holiday's fit in Dallas' scheme is evident, and he should continue to garner a decent role off the bench, though fantasy managers likely can't rely on such an efficient shooting performance on a nightly basis.

  • Mavericks' Justin Holiday: Available Wednesday

Coach Jason Kidd said he plans to get Holiday "some minutes" against the Nuggets on Wednesday, Brad Townsend of The Dallas Morning News reports.

Holiday signed with the Mavericks after getting bought out following a trade that sent him from Atlanta to Houston. His contract was made official Wednesday afternoon, and it appears he will immediately join the Mavericks' rotation. Although it's unclear how large of a role Holiday will garner, he certainly stands to benefit from the absence of Kyrie Irving (back) and Tim Hardaway (hamstring).

  • Mavericks' Justin Holiday: Officially joins Mavericks

The Mavericks signed Holiday on Wednesday.

Holiday was traded from the Hawks to the Rockets, where he agreed to a buyout. Now that he has officially joined Dallas, he will likely compete for a bench role at the guard and forward positions. He is averaging 4.5 points and 0.9 assists in 14.7 minutes across 28 games this season.

  • Justin Holiday: Reaches buyout, headed to Dallas

Holiday and the Rockets agreed to a buyout Monday, and he plans to sign with the Mavericks when he clears waivers, Brian Windhorst of ESPN.com reports.

Holiday was traded by Atlanta to Houston ahead of the deadline, but he's followed in Danny Green's footsteps by negotiating his way to free agency. The sharpshooter wants to stay in Texas and is expected to sign with Dallas, where he'll presumably compete for a bench role. His three-point prowess should make him a quality option to space the floor for Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving, especially while Maxi Kleber (hamstring) and Davis Bertans (calf) are sidelined. However, Holiday presumably won't garner a large enough role for the Mavericks to crack fantasy relevancy in standard leagues.

  • Rockets' Justin Holiday: Available Friday

Holiday is available for Friday's game against Miami.

Holiday has been cleared to make his team debut a day after being traded from Atlanta to Houston. He wasn't part of the Hawks' rotation before he was dealt and is unlikely to hold a significant role with the Rockets, though he'll have a clearer path to gaining a role on the second unit with his new squad.

  • Rockets' Justin Holiday: Traded to Houston

Holiday and Frank Kaminsky were traded from the Hawks to the Rockets on Thursday in exchange for Garrison Mathews and Bruno Fernando, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports.

Holiday hasn't been part of the Hawks' rotation recently, but he'll get a change of scenery for the final few months of the 2022-23 campaign. Although he consistently saw double-digit minutes off the bench for Atlanta earlier this year, he'll likely struggle to find much playing time in Houston since the team will likely prioritize the development of Jabari Smith and Alperen Sengun down the stretch.
