Baynes has agreed to a contract with the Brisbane Bullets of the Australian NBL, Brian Windhorst of ESPN.com reports. The contract has an NBA out, which will allow him to return to the NBA if he can find an interested team. Baynes worked out for NBA teams in Las Vegas during Summer League, but he didn't find a suitor. He'll resume his playing career in the NBL with the hope of returning to the big league. Baynes was hospitalized for two months and needed to learn how to walk again following a spinal cord injury from a freak fall while playing for the Australian national team in the Tokyo Olympics last summer.... Aron Baynes: Healthy, to work out for teams
Baynes (neck) has recovered from his injury and will be working out for NBA teams in Las Vegas on Friday, Brian Windhorst of ESPN reports. Baynes was hospitalized for two months and needed to learn how to walk again following a spinal cord injury from a freak fall while playing for the Australian national team in the Tokyo Olympics last summer. The 35-year-old last played for the Raptors in 2020-21, where he averaged 6.1 points and 5.2 rebounds in 18.5 minutes. The 6-foot-10 center has shown upside as a rebounder with some floor-spacing ability (30.8 percent from three on 360 career attempts).... See More ... See Less -
Aron Baynes: In hospital with neck injury
Baynes remains in the hospital with severe nerve damage in his neck following a freak accident in the locker room during one of Australia's Olympic games, and his status for the upcoming season is now in jeopardy, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports. To add insult to injury, this news comes days after Baynes was waived by the Raptors. The veteran big man's health is the first priority at this point, as the news sounds more severe than initially reported. The injury is potentially career threatening, as any significant time missed for the 34-year-old would be difficult to return from.... See More ... See Less -
Aron Baynes: Let go by Raps
Baynes was waived by the Raptors on Wednesday, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports. Baynes quickly fell out of favor with coach Nick Nurse last season and often wasn't a meaningful part of the rotation in Toronto. He still managed to average 6.1 points and 5.2 rebounds in 18.5 minutes, but the season was a massive disappointment compared to his surprising 2019-20 campaign with the Suns. As a 34-year-old with issues staying healthy and trouble making an impact last year, it would be surprising if Baynes were to find his way into a fantasy-relevant role this upcoming season.... Raptors' Aron Baynes: Adds six points off bench
Baynes posted six points (3-6, FG, 0-2 3Pt, 0-1 FT), four rebounds and three assists across 21 minutes during Thursday's 114-102 loss to Chicago. Baynes saw his first game action since April 10 as he made a return from a foot injury while the team was decimated by injuries. The 34-year-old center could see minutes in the team's final two games as well if coach Nick Nurse continues to sit the main rotation players.... See More ... See Less -
Raptors' Aron Baynes: Joins rotation Thursday
Baynes (foot) saw the court in Thursday's game against Chicago, Josh Lewenberg of TSN reports. Baynes had been listed as probable ahead of tipoff and another update was not provided. He had not appeared in a game since April 10 but ended up playing 21 minutes and finishing with six points, four boards and three assists in the 114-102 loss.... See More ... See Less -
Raptors' Aron Baynes: Upgraded to probable
Baynes (foot) is probable for Thursday's game against Chicago, Blake Murphy of The Athletic reports. Baynes had been ruled out for Thursday's game due to a foot injury, but now it looks like he will play. If he plays, he could see some minutes with a variety of Toronto players sidelined.... Raptors' Aron Baynes: Officially out Thursday
Baynes (foot) will not be available for Thursday's game against the Bulls, Josh Lewenberg of TSN reports. Baynes fell out of the rotation last month and has since been dealing with a foot issue that's kept him sidelined since April 10. With only two more games left on the schedule, there's a good chance Baynes' season is over.... See More ... See Less -
Raptors' Aron Baynes: Won't play Tuesday
Baynes (foot) will not play Tuesday against the Clippers, Doug Smith of the Toronto Star reports. Baynes hadn't been listed on the team's most recent injury report, but a foot injury will keep him sidelined for Tuesday's contest. Khem Birch and Freddie Gillespie likely will be looking at significant minutes with Toronto down to eight healthy players.... See More ... See Less -
Raptors' Aron Baynes: Off injury report
Baynes (foot) is not listed on the injury report for Tuesday's game against the Clippers. Baynes looks like he's ready to return after dealing with a foot injury in the last week. The 34-year-old hasn't been a part of the rotation in several weeks, so his health won't have a major impact in fantasy.... See More ... See Less -
Raptors' Aron Baynes: Out as expected
Baynes (foot) is out Saturday against the Grizzlies, Aaron Rose of SI.com reports. The only status Baynes wasn't listed under for Saturday was probable, as he was initially available before being deemed questionable, then doubtful and now out. His absence won't affect fantasy.... See More ... See Less -
Raptors' Aron Baynes: Downgraded to doubtful
Baynes (foot) is doubtful for Saturday's game against the Grizzlies. Baynes hasn't seen the court since April 10, as coach Nick Nurse has completely gone away from him in the rotation. So, his availability won't affect fantasy.... See More ... See Less -
Raptors' Aron Baynes: Now questionable Saturday
Baynes (foot) is back on the injury report and is questionable for Saturday's contest against the Grizzlies. Baynes hasn't seen the court since April 10, as coach Nick Nurse has completely gone away from him in the rotation. So, his availability won't affect fantasy.... See More ... See Less -
Raptors' Aron Baynes: Off injury report
Baynes (foot) is not on the injury report for Saturday's contest against the Grizzlies, Blake Murphy of The Athletic reports. Baynes hasn't seen the court since April 10, as coach Nick Nurse has completely gone away from him in the rotation. So, his availability won't affect fantasy.... See More ... See Less -
Raptors' Aron Baynes: Out with bruised foot
Baynes is out for Thursday's game against the Wizards due to a bruised left foot, Blake Murphy of The Athletic reports. Baynes hasn't seen the court since April 10, as coach Nick Nurse has completely gone away from him in the rotation. So, his absence won't affect fantasy.... See More ... See Less -
Raptors' Aron Baynes: Absent Tuesday
Baynes (coach's decision) didn't appear in Tuesday's loss to Brooklyn. The center has all but fallen out of the Raptors' rotation lately, as Baynes last played against the Cavs on April 10. At the moment, Baynes finds himself playing behind starter Khem Birch, and reserves Chris Boucher and Freddie Gillespie.... See More ... See Less -
Raptors' Aron Baynes: Scrubbed from rotation
Baynes (coach's decision) went unused Sunday in the Raptors' 102-96 loss to the Knicks. The addition of buyout pickup Khem Birch left no room in the rotation for Baynes, who failed to play for the first time since Jan. 11. Now that Birch gives the Raptors a big-bodied alternate to the undersized Chris Boucher, Baynes is likely to see his opportunities dwindle when both of the centers ahead of him on the depth chart are healthy. Baynes had averaged 6.4 points and 5.6 rebounds in 17.4 minutes in his five appearances off the bench following his March 31 spot start.... See More ... See Less -
Raptors' Aron Baynes: Coming off bench
Baynes will come off the bench Friday against the Warriors. After starting two of the past three games, Baynes will come off the bench while Chris Boucher starts. In Baynes' past 10 games as a reserve, he's averaged 5.4 points and 3.6 rebounds in 14.2 minutes.... See More ... See Less -
Raptors' Aron Baynes: Rejoins starting five
Baynes will start Wednesday's game at Oklahoma City. The 34-year-old will receive a start for the second time in the past three games with Kyle Lowry (foot) sitting out again for Toronto. Lowry will be sidelined 7-to-10 days by the injury, so Baynes could receive a few more starts over the next week-plus, depending on matchups.... See More ... See Less -
Raptors' Aron Baynes: Returns to lineup
Baynes is starting Sunday's game against the Trail Blazers. Baynes had come off the bench in each of the past six matchups, but he'll return to the starting five Sunday as the Raptors use a big lineup with Kyle Lowry (foot) unavailable. Across his past six appearances, Baynes has averaged 3.8 points and 3.5 rebounds over 11.8 minutes per game.... See More ... See Less

Josh Lewenberg@JLew105019H agoBarnes was awesome but didn't get enough help and the Raptors didn't defend well enough to make up for brutal 3-point shooting (even for them). A good recipe for a bad loss. Raptors are 9-11 after 20 games and continue to alternate great wins and ugly losses.
