Peyton Manning throws four touchdowns in victory
Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning completed 32-of-51 passes for 400 yards and four touchdowns in Sunday's 37-13 victory over the Texans. His final throw of the game -- a 25-yard strike to Julius Thomas -- set the single-season record for touchdowns (51), breaking Tom Brady's previous mark.
Manning had 296 yards and a touchdown by halftime. But the Texans came out aggressively in the third quarter, as Manning missed on his first five pass attempts. Manning eventually shook out of his funk and fired three fourth quarter touchdowns (two to Eric Decker). This was all against a Houston defense that had allowed the second-fewest passing yards per game this season.
The Broncos face the Raiders in Week 17. With the first-round bye locked up, there's a good chance Manning could be rested in favor of Brock Osweiler. But it probably won't happen without a fight. In 2009, with the Colts, Manning was pulled early from a game against the Jets, with a perfect season on the line. The New York Times painted a picture of a sullen Manning, "stewing" on the sideline after his removal.
