  • Cardinals' Dalvin Tomlinson: Finds new home in desert

The Cardinals signed Tomlinson to a two-year, $29 million contract Wednesday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports. The deal comes with $16 million guaranteed. Tomlinson was officially released by the Browns on Monday afternoon in order to designate him as a post-June 1 cut, and he's quickly back on his feet in the desert. Tomlinson was a 16-game starter for Cleveland last season and piled up 26 tackles (13 solo), including 3.0 sacks. He figures to slide right in as a starting defensive tackle for Arizona.

  • Dalvin Tomlinson: Designated as post-June 1 cut

The Browns released Tomlinson on Wednesday, Daniel Oyefusi of ESPN.com reports. The move was expected, but the Browns had to wait for the new league year to start in order to designate the veteran defensive tackle as a post-June 1 cut. With the move, Cleveland clears more than $6.4 million in cap space but incurs $5.042 million in dead money. The 31-year-old started all 16 regular-season games in which he appeared last season, ringing up 26 tackles (13 solo), including 3.0 sacks. He's started all 125 games he's appeared in across eight seasons in the league and should be able to find work elsewhere.

  • Browns' Dalvin Tomlinson: Set to be cut by Cleveland

The Browns informed Tomlinson (knee) on Monday that he will be released as a post-June 1 cut, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. Although Tomlinson won't be released by the Browns until after June 1, Schefter relays that the veteran defensive tackle can officially sign with any team when the new league year starts Wednesday. Tomlinson played in 16 regular-season games for the Browns in 2024 and finished with 26 tackles (13 solo), including 3.0 sacks. The 2017 second-round pick should garner plenty of interest from teams looking to bolster their interior defensive line.

  • Browns' Dalvin Tomlinson: Missing Week 18

Tomlinson (knee) has been ruled out ahead of Saturday's matchup against the Ravens. Tomlinson was originally considered questionable for the Week 18 divisional matchup after sustaining a knee injury at Wednesday's practice. However, he's since been downgraded to out, meaning his 2024 campaign is over. Tomlinson appeared in 16 games for the Browns this season, recording 26 total tackles, including 3.0 sacks. Jowon Briggs is likely the next man up at defensive tackle for Cleveland on Saturday.

  • Browns' Dalvin Tomlinson: Questionable to play Baltimore

Tomlinson (knee) is listed as questionable for Saturday's game against the Ravens, Scott Petrak of the Elyria Chronicle-Telegram reports. Tomlinson suffered a knee injury during Wednesday's practice, though head coach Kevin Stefanski said that the veteran defensive tackle escaped a major injury. Tomlinson didn't practice Thursday, and his status for Saturday's regular-season finale is up in the air. Jowon Briggs would likely start at defensive tackle alongside Mike Hall if Tomlinson is not cleared to play.

  • Browns' Dalvin Tomlinson: Ready to resume practicing

The Browns removed Tomlinson (knee) from the active/PUP list Monday. Tomlinson passed his physical Monday, meaning he's now cleared to resume practicing after having missed all of training camp and the preseason. He now has two weeks remaining to get in game shape ahead of Cleveland's regular-season opener on Sept. 8 against the Cowboys.

  • Browns' Dalvin Tomlinson: Undergoes surgery

Tomlinson underwent arthroscopic surgery on his right knee Friday, Chris Easterling of the Akron Beacon Journal reports. Cleveland head Kevin Stefanski indicated the surgery was successful but did not offer a timeline for Tomlinson's return. The team is hoping he'll be ready to go for the season opener, Sept. 8, against the Cowboys. Tomlinson's main contribution in 2023 was to occupy bodies and set up sacks for edge rushers.

Tomlinson will have a scope on his injured knee, Scott Petrak of the Elyria Chronicle-Telegram reports. While Tomlinson will be sidelined for the time being, head coach Kevin Stefanski expects him to be ready for the start of the regular season. Once healthy, the 2017 second-round pick should start at defensive tackle alongside Shelby Harris.

  • Vikings' Dalvin Tomlinson: Sidelined again Week 10

Tomlinson (calf) was ruled out for Sunday's game against the Bills, Chris Tomasson of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports. Tomlinson will miss his second game in a row after being forced out with a calf injury during Minnesota's Week 8 win over Washington. With Tomlinson out, expect James Lynch to see increased usage against Buffalo.

  • Vikings' Dalvin Tomlinson: Could miss time

Tomlinson (calf) is considered week-to-week as of Monday according to head coach Kevin O'Connell, Kevin Seifert of ESPN.com Seifert reports. His practice status in the coming days will likely lead to a better idea of whether or not he has a chance to play Sunday against Washington.

  • Vikings' Dalvin Tomlinson: Three QB hurries in season opener

Tomlinson had one tackle and three quarterback hurries, according to Pro Football Focus, in Sunday's win over Green Bay. Tomlinson serves as a run suffer along with Harrison Phillips in the interior of Minnesota's 3-4 defense, but he has some modest pass rush skills as well.

  • Vikings' Dalvin Tomlinson: Back from COVID list

Tomlinson was activated from the reserve/COVID-19 list Thursday. Tomlinson missed last week's loss to the 49ers, but his absence will be limited to just that one game. Assuming he has no lingering symptoms, Tomlinson should retake his starting spot on the interior of Minnesota's defensive line Sunday in Detroit.

  • Vikings' Dalvin Tomlinson: Ruled out Sunday

Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer said Tomlinson won't be activated from the reserve/COVID-19 list in time to play Sunday against the 49ers, Chris Tomasson of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports. Zimmer essentially confirmed that Tomlinson contracted the virus, as Mike Garafolo of NFL Network previously relayed that three of the four NFL players placed on the list Tuesday were the result of positive COVID-19 tests, while multiple reports suggested Joe Flacco was the lone player deactivated as a result of being a close contact of an infected person. Because Tomlinson is an unvaccinated player who tested positive, he'll be subject to an automatic 10-day quarantine, which puts the defensive tackle on track to miss practice time Week 13 as well. Tomlinson could still be activated from the list in time to play in the Vikings' game later that week against the Lions on Dec. 5.

While those aren't gaudy numbers, he played an important role with the team by logging over 600 defensive snaps in each of his final three campaigns and over 100 special teams snaps in every year of his career. He'll now take on a large role along the Vikings' defensive line.

  • Giants' Dalvin Tomlinson: Sets career high in sacks

Tomlinson made 49 tackles (23 solo), 3.5 sacks and one forced fumble across 16 contests in 2019. Tomlinson saw slightly reduced numbers as a run stopper in 2019, but he made up for that by creating consistent interior pressure after only having notched one sack in his previous two seasons. The 2017 second-round pick will enter the final year of his rookie contract in 2020.
