Taumoepeau spent the entire 2021 season on the reserve/non-football injury list due to a neck issue, but he's now returned to health. The third-year tight end can now search for an opportunity elsewhere in the league.

Lions' Charlie Taumoepeau: Reverts to reserve list
Taumoepeau (neck) cleared waivers and reverted to Detroit's reserve/non-football injury list Tuesday, per the NFL's official transaction log.
Taumoepeau suffered the injury in a car accident over the weekend, and he was waived with a non-football injury designation Monday. The 23-year-old is set to spend the rest of the season on the reserve list after going unclaimed on waivers.

Charlie Taumoepeau: Waived with non-football injury
Taumoepeau (neck) was waived with a non-football injury designation by the Lions on Monday, Justin Rogers of The Detroit News reports.
Taumoepeau suffered the injury in a car accident over the weekend, and he's being let go by Detroit while the driver, former teammate Alex Brown, faces criminal charges. Taumoepeau is still looking to make his NFL debut after going undrafted out of Portland State last year.

The tight end out of FCS Portland State snagged a contract with the Cowboys after he went undrafted in April's draft. Taumoepeau has the versatility to suit up at fullback or as an H-back, so that could help his chances of securing a roster spot elsewhere for 2020.
