Braves' Alan Rangel: Protected from Rule 5 draft

Rangel's contract was selected by Atlanta on Saturday.

The move protects Rangel from the Rule 5 draft. Rangel has yet to reach Triple-A, but he rode an excellent combination of a 32.0 percent strikeout rate and a 6.1 percent walk rate to a 3.87 ERA and 1.03 WHIP across the High-A and Double-A levels this season.
