Almonte (shoulder) has reported to the Cubs' spring training facility in Arizona and has been cleared to resume mound work, Maddie Lee of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
He'll likely throw multiple side sessions in Arizona before facing hitters in live batting practice or simulated games, prior to heading out on a minor-league rehab assignment. The reliever has been on the 15-day injured list since May 11 with a right shoulder strain.
