Contreras was cut by the Angels last week, J.J. Cooper of Baseball America reports.
The Angels signed Contreras to a minor-league contract prior to the 2018 campaign, but he struggled with the team's rookie-league affiliate last season, allowing 12 walks and 12 earned runs in seven innings and spending much of the season on the injured list. The 20-year-old was originally signed by the Braves out of Cuba in 2017.
