The White Sox released Pillar on Friday.
Pillar signed a minor-league deal with Chicago in the offseason and was looking to claim a spot on the White Sox's bench, but he will miss the cut and instead go back onto the market. The veteran went 11-for-44 during spring training while driving in five RBI, and he may attract interest from other teams looking for organizational outfield depth.
