Hill cleared waivers and was sent outright to Triple-A Tacoma on Friday.

After being designated for assignment by the Mariners on Wednesday, Hill will now have an extra hurdle to clear in order to make it back to the majors. He slashed .229/.296/.401 over 255 plate appearances this season at Triple-A split between the Detroit and Seattle organizations, but ended the year on a high note with a .828 OPS in September.
