Mets' Eric Orze: Sent back to Triple-A

The Mets optioned Orze to Triple-A Syracuse on Wednesday, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

The transaction clears a spot on the active roster for Phil Maton, whom the Mets acquired from the Rays on Tuesday. Orze failed to retire any of the three batters he faced in his lone appearance with the big club in Monday's 8-2 loss to the Pirates.
