Mets' Seth Elledge: Removed from 40-man roster

The Mets designated Elledge for assignment Sunday, Tim Britton of The Athletic reports.

The move is necessary to place Dennis Santana on the 26- and 40-man roster for Sunday's doubleheader against the Nationals. Elledge was claimed off waivers by the Mets on April 11, and if he goes unclaimed he could report back to Triple-A Syracuse as organizational depth.
