Buss opted to become a free agent rather than accept an assignment to Triple-A Salt Lake on Thursday.

Buss underwhelmed with the big club this season, as he hit just .198/.247/.346 over 36 games. However, he had a solid showing with Salt Lake, where he played 87 games and had 37 extra-base hits to go along with a .296 batting average. If a club decides to sign Buss, he could be a solid contributor in the minors, but has yet to show the ability to perform in the show.
