Phil Bickford: Elects free agency

The Yankees released Bickford on Wednesday.

Bickford cleared waivers after being removed from the 40-man roster but has elected free agency rather than accepting an outright assignment. The veteran reliever should be scooped up by some team, but he might have to go to the minors first.
