Phillies' Nick Williams: Sent back to minors

Williams was optioned to Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Monday.

Williams has failed to get going in sporadic at-bats this season, hitting a miserable .173/.221/.259 with a 34.9 percent strikeout rate in 86 plate appearances. His absence makes way for Roman Quinn, who returned from a groin injury in a corresponding move.
