The Pirates have selected Reed with the 104th overall pick in the 2023 First-Year Player Draft.

Reed missed a lot of bats during his time with West Virginia but also often missed the strike zone. He has the repertoire to start and the Pirates will give him an opportunity to do so, but in all likelihood his best chance to reach the big leagues will be as a reliever.
