Pirates' Shea Spitzbarth: Returns to Indianapolis

The Pirates optioned Spitzbarth to Triple-A Indianapolis on Sunday, Alex Stumpf of DKPittsburghSports.com reports.

Spitzbarth was designated as Pittsburgh's 27th man ahead of Saturday's doubleheader with the Brewers and was never expected to be long for the active roster. The right-hander reliever pitched in the second game of the twin bill, giving up a solo home run to Avisail Garcia in his lone inning of work in the Pirates' 6-0 loss.
