Red Sox's Trey Wingenter: Returns to Triple-A

The Red Sox optioned Wingenter to Triple-A Worcester on Friday, Gabrielle Starr of the Boston Herald reports.

Boston selected the 30-year-old's contract Tuesday, but he'll head back to the minors after he surrendered three runs over one inning in his lone appearance. Wingenter was demoted to make room on the roster for Friday's starter Cooper Criswell.
