The Yankees appointed Dominguez as the 27th man for Sunday's game against the Tigers in the Little League Classic at Williamsport, Penn.
Both teams get an extra player for Sunday's game at a neutral site, and New York will use that roster spot for its top prospect. Dominguez has struggled to a .612 OPS at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre since returning from an oblique injury in late July, though he's hit better recently and has gone 7-for-17 in his past five games. The 21-year-old is in the starting lineup for Sunday's contest but will still return to the minors after the game, per Bryan Hoch of MLB.com, since there's no clear path to regular playing time with the big club.
