    • Ponce de Leon doesn't have any structural damage in his inflamed right shoulder and will undergo an injection to deal with the issue, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports. Ponce de Leon got encouraging news regarding the injury Monday, though it's still not clear exactly when he's expected to return. He struggled to an 8.71 ERA and 1.84 WHIP in 10.1 innings prior to landing on the injured list.

    • Ponce de Leon was placed on the 10-day injured list with right shoulder inflammation Friday, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports. The move was backdated to Thursday, so Ponce de Leon could be eligible to return as soon as May 9, but it's unclear if the issue is minor enough for that to be a possibility. Jake Woodford was recalled in a corresponding move.

    • Ponce de Leon fired two scoreless innings to close out a win over the Nationals on Monday, allowing no hits or walks but hitting a batter while also recording a strikeout The right-hander's plunking of Yan Gomes was the only blemish on an otherwise perfect line, as Ponce de Leon impressively fired 16 of 23 pitches for strikes in a much-needed confidence-building performance. The 29-year-old had opened the season in utterly forgettable fashion, giving up 10 earned runs across his first 7.1 innings over three appearances (two starts) prior to Monday's spotless outing.

    • Ponce de Leon will pitch out of the bullpen going forward and will be available in that role Tuesday against the Nationals, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports. Ponce de Leon can't really complain about the move, as he owns an 11.37 ERA, 2.21 WHIP and a 3:5 K:BB through two starts. He pitched most recently Sunday against the Brewers, lasting just 1.1 innings, so he should be ready to pitch again soon. Kwang Hyun Kim (back) will return to the starting rotation Saturday against the Phillies.

    • Ponce de Leon (1-1) allowed seven runs on six hits and four walks over 1.1 innings Sunday, taking the loss against Milwaukee. Sunday was a day to forget for Ponce de Leon. The Brewers bounced early with a four-run first inning, including a two-run shot by Avisail Garcia. He was then chased from the game after allowing a three-run blast to Travis Shaw with just one out in the second. The 29-year-old could be moving back to the bullpen after this outing as Kwang Hyun Kim (back) is expected to return soon.
