  • Breeland started at left cornerback and had seven tackles and a tackle for a loss in Sunday's loss to the Bengals. He also had a key 26-yard pass interference penalty in the second quarter. Breeland struggled in coverage Sunday, as he was targeted eight times and gave up five completions for 107 yards for a 145.8 passer rating against, according to Pro Football Focus. While a veteran, Breeland will need to play better to hold off Mackensie Alexander and Cameron Dantzler for the starting job.

  • Breeland is listed as a starter opposite Patrick Peterson at cornerback on Minnesota's first unofficial depth chart of the preseason. He's competing with Mackensie Alexander and Cameron Dantzler for a starting role, but all three should get significant snaps. Alexander is likely to be the nickelback with Dantlzer and Breeland working outside. Breeland gave up a 90.0 NFL passer rating in coverage last year, according to Pro Football Focus, but adds a needed veteran presence to a young secondary that struggled last season.

  • Breeland and the Vikings have come to terms on a one-year deal, Chris Tomasson of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports. Breeland is expected to compete for the starting outside cornerback job opposite the recently acquired Patrick Peterson. He will presumably compete with returning starter Cameron Dantzler. The eight-year veteran spent his previous two seasons with the Chiefs and even recorded a team-high seven tackles in their Super Bowl LIV victory over the 49ers. He's tallied 367 tackles and 14 interceptions across 94 career games.

  • Breeland (concussion) is questionable for Sunday's AFC Championship Game against the Bills. Breeland will have to fully clear the league's five-step concussion protocol before being able to suit up, including getting the all-clear from an independent neurologist. With Rashad Fenton (foot) also questionable, the Chiefs could be without two reserve cornerbacks Sunday.

  • Breeland (head) is officially ruled out for the remainder of Sunday's divisional-round matchup. While it is currently unclear whether Breeland suffered a concussion, the cornerback exited Sunday's matchup during the second half. With Rashad Fenton out as well, Antonio Hamilton and Charvarius Ward will continue cornerback duties for the final few minutes of the game.
