Salminen was drafted 68th overall by the Devils at the 2021 NHL Draft on Saturday.
Salminen capped a stellar season with a dominant performance (seven goals, nine points in seven games) for Finland at the World U18's. In addition to his scoring prowess, Salminen also led the tournament in face-off percentage (70.2 percent). Scouts would have loved to see Salminen get some games with Jokerit's top team, but he was limited to games with their junior club (10 goals, 26 points in 17 games) in order to maintain his collegiate eligibility with the University of Denver. All in all, Salminen appears to be the complete package. He has the size (6-foot-3), skill, and creativity to develop into a legitimate top-six weapon for New Jersey.
