For just any old start, it was pretty good. But for the first start in seven weeks for Jered Weaver, his performance Sunday for the Angels against Baltimore was senstational.
Weaver surrendered two runs on four hits in five innings. Most encouraging considering his long stint on the disabled list was that he walked none and fanned seven.
His comeback game did not begin well when he yielded run-scoring hits to Matt Wieters and Jonathan Schoop in the first inning. But he retired 12 of the next 13 batters and faced the minimum the rest of the way. He even struck out the side in the fourth.
Weaver left the game with a 4-2 lead, but wound up with a no-decision.
