Diamondbacks starting pitcher Bronson Arroyo finally started living up to expectations Saturday, but the bullpen let him down in a 6-5 loss.
Arroyo kept the Phillies off the scoreboard for much of his start, opening with six shutout innings. He ran into trouble in the seventh, allowing one run on two hits while recording one out, and having one more runner come across after he was pulled.
Arroyo was charged with two runs on seven hits and a walk in 6 1/3 innings of work, while striking out two. Even with the solid effort Saturday, he remains 1-2 with a 7.77 ERA heading into his next start, Friday in San Diego.
