The Mets have signed pitcher Daisuke Matsuzaka to a minor-league deal.
Matsuzaka will compete with John Lannan and Jenrry Mejia for the fifth starter job. Matsuzaka was with the club last season. He posted a 4.42 ERA in seven starts with the team.
