Dodgers starter Josh Beckett pitched in a simulated game on Monday after being scratched from his scheduled Cactus League start due to an illness. The right-hander threw 76 pitches and lasted what amounted to six innings. Beckett is expected to be available the next time his turn in the rotation comes around.
"Everything went good," manager Don Mattingly told MLB.com. "He got better as the game went on. He was happy about being able to get it in. He was worried that if he did it in a [Cactus League] game and he had a long inning, he wouldn't get his pitch count up and the up-and-downs. He seemed to be happy with it."
