On May 7 of this season, Athletics fly-catcher Coco Crisp made this outstanding snare, at great personal expense ...
That catch resulted in a strained neck -- a condition that hasn't improved over time. Now comes this from CSN Bay Area's Joe Stiglich:
An MRI showed that Crisp has “chronic, degenerative changes” in his neck, according to A’s head trainer Nick Paparesta, stemming from a collision with the center field wall at the Coliseum during a May 7 game.
That sounds scary, but, as Stiglich notes, a roster move isn't planned for the time being. In the near-term, it may be an issue of managing pain in order to stay on the field for Crisp. He hasn't seen action since Saturday, but it's possible he could return to the lineup when the A's return home on Friday.
For what it's worth, Crisp since suffering that injury on May 7 has batted a productive .281/.382/.422.
