  • Mariners' Dominic Canzone: Loses roster spot

The Mariners optioned Canzone to Triple-A Tacoma on Wednesday. Canzone had started just seven of 18 games since coming off the injured list earlier this month and went just 3-for-26 at the plate over that stretch. With Julio Rodriguez able to play center field again and Victor Robles sliding over to right field, Canzone's playing time was likely only going to dwindle further had he stuck around with Seattle.

  • Mariners' Dominic Canzone: Hitting bench against lefty

Canzone isn't in the Mariners' lineup for Saturday's game against the Giants. The lefty-hitting Canzone will take a seat Saturday with the lefty-throwing Blake Snell set to toe the slab for San Francisco. Randy Arozarena, Victor Robles and Julio Rodriguez will start across the outfield while Mitch Haniger serves as Seattle's designated hitter.

  • Mariners' Dominic Canzone: Sitting Saturday

Canzone is not in the starting lineup for Saturday's game against Pittsburgh. Southpaw Bailey Falter is starting for the Pirates on Saturday, which will send the lefty-hitting Canzone to the bench to start the contest. Mitch Haniger will start in right field and bat seventh.

  • Mariners' Dominic Canzone: On bench again Wednesday

Canzone is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Tigers. Since being activated from the 10-day injured list, the lefty-hitting Canzone has started in just one of the Mariners' ensuing six games. He hasn't been helped by the fact that the Mariners have faced five left-handed starters or primary pitchers during that stretch, but Canzone's opportunities against right-handed pitching could be somewhat limited moving forward with Julio Rodriguez having recently returned from the injured list and fellow outfielder Victor Rojas having solidified himself as an everyday player.

  • Mariners' Dominic Canzone: Productive in return to lineup

Canzone went 2-for-4 with two doubles and a run in a win over the Mets on Sunday. Canzone started in right field, his first time back in the opening lineup since being activated from the injured list Friday. The outfielder commemorated the occasion by swatting his first extra-base hits since July 9, but with Randy Arozarena arriving at the deadline and Victor Robles working himself into a regular outfield role while Canzone was on the shelf, the latter's prospects for regular playing time are murky at the moment.

  • Mariners' Dominic Canzone: Idle vs. southpaw Friday

Canzone is not in the starting lineup for Friday's game against the Mets. The lefty-hitting Canzone, who was activated from the 10-day injured list Thursday, will begin Friday's contest on the bench with the Mets sending left-hander Jose Quintana to the mound. Mitch Haniger will start in right field and bat seventh.

  • Mariners' Dominic Canzone: Activated from 10-day IL

Canzone (thigh) was reinstated from the 10-day injured list Thursday. Canzone will make his return to the major-league roster after missing nearly a month of action due to a right adductor strain. The 26-year-old produced a .375 average with three home runs, a double, six RBI and five runs scored over his six games with Triple-A Tacoma during his rehab assignment. Although he's not in the lineup Thursday, Canzone will likely step back into his starting role in right field as soon as Friday against the Mets.

  • Mariners' Dominic Canzone: Plays in second straight rehab game

Canzone (thigh) started in right field and played five innings in Triple-A Tacoma's loss to Sacramento on Friday, going 1-for-3. The five-inning appearance was the second in as many rehab games for Canzone, who clearly tolerated Thursday's initial workload well. The recovering outfielder has six minor-league plate appearances under his belt thus far, and he may only need a handful more games with the Rainiers before being deemed ready for activation. However, what Canzone's playing time will look like once he's off the IL remains to be seen, given the Mariners acquired Randy Arozarena, who's handling an everyday role in right field.

  • Mariners' Dominic Canzone: Not ready for IL return

Canzone (thigh), who is first eligible to return from the injured list Saturday, is still recovering according to manager Scott Servais and remains multiple weeks away from beginning a rehab assignment, MLB.com reports. The fact the outfielder won't have a minimum-length stay on the IL is unsurprising, given the nature of his injury and the fact there haven't been any reports of Canzone engaging in any type of baseball activities yet. Servais estimated Friday that Canzone is still at least a couple weeks away from being sent down to an affiliate for a rehab assignment, and that timeline could naturally be extended if his recovery doesn't start gathering some momentum soon. While Canzone remains sidelined, Victor Robles could continue drawing the bulk of starts in right field, although Mitch Haniger and Jonatan Clase are also candidates to occasionally slot in.

  • Mariners' Dominic Canzone: Placed on IL with adductor strain

The Mariners placed Canzone on the 10-day injured list Wednesday with a right adductor strain. Canzone initially suffered the injury during Sunday's 5-4 loss to the Blue Jays while making a catch and then aggravated it while running in Tuesday's 8-3 win. He'll be eligible to return from the IL shortly after the All-Star break, but it's uncertain whether Canzone will be ready for activation at that time.

  • Mariners' Dominic Canzone: Removed early Tuesday

Canzone was removed from Tuesday's game against the Padres with a possible injury, Daniel Kramer of MLB.com reports. The Mariners haven't yet provided an official reason for Canzone's early exit, but the 26-year-old outfielder did appear to be in some pain while running after hitting a double in the fifth inning. He'll head into the clubhouse for further evaluation, and more information on his status should be released in the near future.

Canzone is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Twins. Canzone will hit the bench Sunday for a second straight day after starting the previous six contests. He's gone 2-for-16 with 10 strikeouts since he collected four hits June 22 in Miami. Dylan Moore will start in left field Sunday, pushing Luke Raley to right.

  • Mariners' Dominic Canzone: Tallies four hits Saturday

Canzone went 4-for-5 with a home run, three total runs and two total RBI in Saturday's 9-0 win against the Marlins. Canzone knocked in a run with a fourth-inning single and added a 415-foot solo homer in the fifth. He finished with a season-high four hits -- in fact, he hadn't even had a three-hit game prior to Saturday. Canzone has shown some intriguing power with seven homers over 119 plate appearances after going deep six times across 182 plate appearance as a rookie last year.

  • Mariners' Dominic Canzone: Taking seat against southpaw

Canzone is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Guardians. With lefty Logan Allen on the hill for Cleveland, Canzone and fellow left-handed-hitting regulars Luke Raley and Josh Rojas will retreat to the bench. Mitch Haniger will cover right field in Canzone's stead.

  • Mariners' Dominic Canzone: Out against southpaw

Canzone is out of the lineup for Friday's game against Washington. The lefty-hitting Canzone will cede right field duties to Mitch Haniger as the Mariners take on southpaw MacKenzie Gore. Canzone is slashing .208/.278/.500 with four home runs and eight RBI in his second major-league season.

  • Mariners' Dominic Canzone: Hitting bench versus lefty

Canzone is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Yankees. After returning last Wednesday following a month-long stay on the injured list, Canzone had started in all but one of the Mariners' ensuing six games, going 3-for-14 with a pair of extra-base hits and two walks. While the lefty-hitting Canzone will hit the bench against Yankees southpaw Nestor Cortes, look for manager Scott Servais to open up playing time for both Canzone and fellow left-handed hitter Luke Raley at the corner-outfield spots when the Mariners face right-handed pitching. To get Raley in the lineup, Mitch Garver and Mitch Haniger have been losing out on more opportunities against right-handed pitching since Canzone's return from the IL.

  • Mariners' Dominic Canzone: Returns from IL

The Mariners reinstated Canzone (shoulder) from the 10-day injured list Wednesday. The Mariners weren't expected to bring Canzone back from the IL until this weekend, but he'll end up joining the club for its series finale with the Royals after he checked out fine following his third rehab game with Triple-A Tacoma on Wednesday. Prior to landing on the shelf April 15 with a sprained AC joint in his left shoulder, Canzone had taken hold of a strong-side platoon role in left field. Those duties have largely fallen to Luke Raley during his absence, and though Raley has enjoyed a hot run at the plate of late, Canzone will step into the starting lineup in his first game back with the team. He'll man left field and bat seventh Wednesday against the Royals.

  • Mariners' Dominic Canzone: Could return this weekend

Canzone (shoulder), who took a full game's worth of plate appearances as the designated hitter for Triple-A Tacoma on Sunday, could be activated ahead of the start of the Mariners' next road trip Friday, MLB.com reports. Canzone went 2-for-5 with an RBI double Sunday for the Rainiers after also lacing a two-bagger in his rehab debut Saturday. Canzone's timing at the plate already seems to be in good shape, and if he continues without any physical setbacks, it appears he could be ready to jump back into action with the Mariners beginning Friday against the Orioles.
