  • Dodgers' Brendon Davis: Gets deal from Dodgers

Davis signed a minor-league contract with the Dodgers on Jan. 4. It's a return to his original organization, as Davis was a fifth-round pick of the Dodgers back in 2015. The 26-year-old utility player got a cup of coffee with the Tigers in 2022 but spent all of 2023 at their Triple-A affiliate in Toledo, managing just a .651 OPS.

  • Brendon Davis: Released by Detroit

Davis was released by the Tigers on Friday, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports. Davis failed to make the Opening Day roster in April and will now look for a new squad after he struggled to a .178 batting average with five homers, 14 RBI, 15 runs and a stolen base over 43 games with Triple-A Toledo this year. In a corresponding move, infielder Johan Camargo signed a minor-league contract with Detroit on Friday.

  • Tigers' Brendon Davis: Misses out on Opening Day roster

The Tigers reassigned Davis to minor-league camp Monday, Jason Beck of MLB.com reports. The 25-year-old Davis reached the majors for the first time last September and appeared in three games for the Tigers before being pushed off the 40-man roster in the offseason. He re-signed with Detroit on a minor-league deal this winter that included an invitation to big-league spring training, but he was unable to secure a spot on the Tigers' season-opening roster after slashing .250/.379/.375 over 19 games in the Grapefruit League. He'll start the season at Triple-A Toledo.

  • Tigers' Brendon Davis: Back with Tigers on minors deal

Davis returned to the Tigers on a minor-league contract Tuesday, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports. Davis made his big-league debut last season, appearing in three games late in the year. He was designated for assignment and non-tendered in mid-November but will return to the Tigers in an organizational depth role.

  • Brendon Davis: Cut loose by Detroit

The Tigers declined to tender Davis a contract for 2023. A fifth-round pick by the Dodgers in 2015, Davis finally reached the majors with the Tigers at the tail end of last season. He has displayed decent on-base skills at Triple-A and is still only 25 years old even after seven seasons in affiliated ball.

  • Tigers' Brendon Davis: DFA'd by Detroit

Davis was designated for assignment by the Tigers on Tuesday. Davis was promoted for his big-league debut at the end of the season and went 2-for-10 with a walk, two runs and a stolen base in three games. The 25-year-old spent most of 2022 at Triple-A Toledo and had a .232/.342/.409 slash line in 103 contests.

  • Angels' Brendon Davis: Playing regularly at Triple-A

Davis (side) went 2-for-5 with an RBI for Triple-A Salt Lake in Sunday's 7-1 win over Tacoma. Davis nursed a side injury late in big-league camp before he was optioned to Triple-A on March 28, but he's looked healthy for the start of the minor-league season. Over six games for Salt Lake, the infielder is slashing .391/.444/.435 with five RBI and three runs across 27 plate appearances.

  • Angels' Brendon Davis: Tending to side injury

Davis isn't expected to be available for the next few days of big-league camp due to a side injury, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports. The Angels added Davis to the 40-man roster over the winter after he delivered a combined .922 OPS between stops at Triple-A Salt Lake and Double-A Rocket City in 2021. He was expected to compete for a utility role with the Angels in the spring, but the side issue could hurt his chances of breaking camp with the big club even if it's only a short-term concern.

  • Angels' Brendon Davis: Contract selected by Angels

Davis' contract was selected by the Angels on Friday. Davis tore through the three highest levels of the minors this season, hitting a combined .290/.361/.561 with 30 homers and 16 steals in 124 games. His slightly elevated 25.1 percent strikeout rate is potentially cause for some concern, especially as scouts project his contact ability to be his most significant weakness, but he managed to cut that figure to 21.1 percent in 31 games for Triple-A Salt Lake. He spent time at second base, third base, shortstop and left field and could factor into the mix in some capacity at those spots next season.

  • Angels' Brendon Davis: Enjoying breakout in minors

Davis is slashing .289/.361/.913 with 28 home runs, 81 RBI and 14 stolen bases through 121 games across three minor-league levels this season. Davis hadn't shown much as a professional prior to this season, and he hit only .202 with a mere three long balls in 109 games with the Rangers' Double-A club in 2019. The Angels snapped him up in the Rule 5 draft last December and the move has paid off, as Davis has ascended through three minor-league levels this season and has performed well at each stop. He is still only 24 and has improved his stock more than perhaps any other minor-leaguer in the organization in 2021, so Davis could compete for a big-league role as soon as next year.

  • Dodgers' Brendon Davis: Improving in second season with Low-A Great Lakes

Davis has stolen three bases in 10 attempts with seven home runs for Low-A Great Lakes this year. Davis spent all of last season with Great Lakes, when he hit five home runs and stolen eight bases (in 11 attempts). He's slashing .267/.368/.443 this season, all improvements on his stats from the previous season. His RBI rate has also improved, as he's knocked in 31 in 61 games after compiling 49 RBI in 109 games last year.
