Knicks guard J.R. Smith got hot and carried the team to a 107-99 win over the Kings Wednesday, on the strength of nine 3-pointers.
Smith, who is already the only player in NBA history to have made double digit 3-pointers in multiple games, nearly managed the feat again. He finished 9 of 12 from three-point range and 10 of 19 from the field overall on his way to 29 points. He added four rebounds, four assists and a block, while turning the ball over twice in the win.
Smith got off to a terribly slow start to the season, but has been solid over the last few months. He is averaging 13.3 points, 4.0 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game, while shooting 38.6 percent from three-point range, his best mark since 2010-11.
