Stephen Curry took a big step forward towards winning his first MVP award Wednesday night, with 51 blistering points, 26 in the third quarter, in a nationally-televised game vs. the Mavericks. Curry shot 16-of-26 from the field and 10-of-16 from 3-point range, which is basically hotter than the surface of the sun. Here they are, via Dawk Ins on YouTube:

Curry is moving perpendicular to the sideline when he turns to fire. This is the thing that separates him from so many players. Moving, dribbling, rising, and firing. It's Barea defending, but still. Yeesh.

I mean, the step-back, the clearance, the smoothness of the shot... Dirk had no chance, but then, the Silver Surfer would have no chance. Yeeeeeeesh.

Dirk doesn't even try here. He's done getting toasted. He falls back to defend a phantom cutter or try and rebound or something. He points as if Parsons should somehow teleport from behind the screen to where Curry is. Doom.

The Mavericks would probably be mad about a heat check up 11 with 55 seconds to go, but I think they were still shellshocked from what they witnessed. Curry tries that in the playoffs, though, or against Memphis... anyway, just the cherry on the sundae.
