NFL.com already has a page for the 'LA' Rams. (NFL.com)

UPDATE: Turns out this page isn't so much about the Los Angeles Rams as it is about former NFL teams. For instance, the Phoenix Cardinals and Los Angeles Raiders also have a page.

So do the Boston Patriots!

You can even go to the New England Patriots page and add an LA on the end of it and get to the Los Angeles Rams page. In other words, it's a bug in the system where the site pulls a page from a team that previously existed.

So, yeah, sorry for leaping on the Jump to Conclusions Mat.

UPDATE 2: Even the St. Louis stadium task force is totally cool with the NFL, issuing the following statement:

"The NFL called us this afternoon to make us aware of the situation. We’re perfectly satisfied with the explanation and appreciate that they reached out to us. We’re all in agreement the name of the team is the St. Louis Rams.”

---

Football is coming to Los Angeles at some point. On NFL.com it's already there.

The league's official website has a landing page for each individual team with a basic URL structure: http://www.nfl.com/teams/profile?team=CAR. Go to that URL and you'll see the Carolina Panthers home page.

But try going to this page instead:

http://www.nfl.com/teams/profile?team=LA

As you might expect, that's a profile page for a hypothetical Los Angeles team.

As you might not expect, that URL redirects to a page about the LOS ANGELES RAMS.

Try different cities (LON for London, for instance) and you won't get the same result. Instead it'll redirect to NFL.com/teams, the landing page for the teams.
