A 16-game starter for the Ravens last season, Urban will now be reunited with Titans defensive coordinator Dean Pees, who held the same role in Baltimore from 2012 to 2017. Urban should push DaQuan Jones for a starting job at defensive end in Tennessee's 3-4 scheme, while rookie first-round pick Jeffery Simmons (knee) will focus on his rehab from a torn ACL suffered in February. The Titans now have solid depth across from Jurrell Casey, who is working on six consecutive seasons with at least five sacks.
Urban visited the Titans on Tuesday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Urban was a starter for Baltimore in 2018, but the team didn't re-sign him in March. The 27-year-old defensive end doesn't add much as a pass-rushing threat, but he seals the edge well and posted 27 tackles last year. If he ends up with the Titans, he'll likely compete with DaQuan Jones for a starting role.
It was originally reported that Urban would head to the PUP list due to a foot injury, but the defensive end passed his physical and has been cleared to take the field. Five Ravens remain on the PUP list to open up camp.
Urban (foot) will begin training camp on the Physically Unable to Perform list, ESPN's Jamison Hensley reports.
Urban is working his way back from a season-ending Lisfranc injury he sustained in September. He took part in team drills during June's mandatory minicamp, so it may not be long until he is activated from the PUP list. Urban will face competition for his starting job, and he'll likely split snaps even if he wins out.
Urban (foot) was practicing with the team during last week's minicamp.
Urban has battled a series of injuries throughout his first four seasons, limiting the defensive lineman to a measly 25 career games. However, he did re-sign to a one-year contract with the team this offseason, which may shape up to be a 'prove it' type year for the former fourth-round selection.
