  • Blues' Vladimir Sobotka: Returns to practice

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(4:21 pm ET) Sobotka (illness) returned to practice Thursday after missing Wednesday's contest, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.

Sobotka slotted in on the team's third line during the session and will likely do the same during Friday evening's tilt against the Jets. The veteran forward owns 24 points (nine goals, 15 assists) through 60 games this season and will attempt to build on that output Friday against an opponent allowing 2.67 goals per game in February.

    Blues' Vladimir Sobotka: Out sick

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(2/20/18) Sobotka is dealing with an illness and will be sidelined Tuesday, when the Blues play host to the Sharks, Lou Korac of NHL.com reports.

The Czech center's fantasy stock has been plummeting, as he's caught in a nine-game pointless drought and now under the weather. A replacement has yet to be named, but Samuel Blais and Chris Thorburn figure to be the leading candidates to sub in against Team Teal.

Blues' Vladimir Sobotka: Pointless streak reaches nine

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(2/18/18) Sobotka has zero points and eight PIM in the last nine games.

Some of this lethargy may be due to getting relegated to the third line when Jaden Schwartz returned from an ankle injury, since he had nine goals and 24 points in the previous 51 contests. The Blues, however, are overall displeased with the player Sobotka has been since returning from the Kontinental Hockey League at the end of last season, as he hasn't been able to made the jump to a consistent top-six role and continues to lack the physical presence he used to bring (88 hits, 60 games). These reasons have put Sobotka's name into trade rumors as the Blues search for more offensive support. Sobotka has two more seasons at $3.5 million per year on his contract.

Blues' Vladimir Sobotka: Posts assist Thursday

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(1/26/18) Sobotka recorded one assist in Thursday's 3-1 win over the Avalanche.

Sobotka was demoted to the third line when Jaden Schwartz (ankle) returned, but he still logged 17:47 of ice time without power-play minutes. The 30-year-old pivot has been swaying the momentum with his physicality lately too, handing out five hits in the last two games -- exactly what the Blues need.

Blues' Vladimir Sobotka: Diversifies stat sheet Tuesday

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(1/24/18) Sobotka had one goal, four shots on goal, three hits and two blocked shots in Tuesday's 3-0 win over the Senators.

Sobotka steered the momentum for the Blues and notched his ninth goal through 50 games, tying his career high. The Blues have wanted Sobotka to be more engaged ever since he returned from the KHL at the end of last season, and Tuesday's performance could be the final turning point. However, with Jaden Schwartz (ankle) possibly returning Thursday, Sobotka could be the odd man out in the top six and be sent to the third line.
