The Sharks didn't send Chartier a qualifying offer Tuesday, so he'll become an unrestricted free agent on July 1.

Chartier has been flipped between leagues frequently this season and figures to continue doing so the rest of the way. The center hasn't played in an NHL game since Nov. 15; however, an injury to Joonas Donskoi (upper body) could open the door for Chartier to suit up against the Penguins on Tuesday.

Chartier was sent down to the minors Friday to get some game action with AHL San Jose but was quickly recalled since the Sharks have just 12 healthy forwards otherwise. He won't draw into the lineup for Saturday's game versus the Senators.

Fortunately for Chartier, the Sharks and Barracuda share the SAP Center, so he has only been forced to switch locker rooms during his frequent moves between leagues. The center figures to serve as an emergency depth option against the Oilers on Saturday and is unlikely to get into the lineup.

Chartier has been moving frequently between the NHL and AHL to start the season, but with Joe Thornton (knee) out of action, the youngster will slot into the lineup over Dylan Gambrell. Monday's clash will mark Chartier's NHL debut, with him spending the past two seasons playing for the Barracuda.
