Crawley failed to make the Rangers roster out of training camp, but he was given another opportunity by the club Thursday. The 23-year-old has never seen NHL action in his career, and he spent most of his time in the ECHL last season. Crawley is expected to spend most of his time in the minors this year, with the opportunity for some taxi-squad appearances mixed in.
Crawley was waived by the Rangers on Monday, Rick Carpiniello of The Athletic reports.
Crawley spent most of last season in the ECHL, so the 23-year-old blueliner will require some seasoning at the AHL level before he can hope to crack the big club. He's a long shot to suit up for the Rangers at any point this season barring an unexpected leap in his development.

Crawley has yet to make his NHL debut since being selected in the fourth round of the 2017 NHL Entry Draft. He spent the majority of his time with ECHL Maine last season, so the 23-year-old still has some development to do before making it to the top level.

Crawley, 21, will almost certainly be shipped to the minors once given the green light to suit up. With the Wolf Pack last year, the defenseman put up just five points in 64 games along with a disappointing minus-13 rating.
Crawley agreed to terms on a three-year, entry-level contract with New York on Monday.
Crawley -- who was drafted by the Rangers in the fourth round of the 2017 NHL Draft -- tallied seven goals and two assists in 61 games with OHL London last year. The blueliner will likely remain in juniors this season as he continues to develop his game.
