Nets' Kessler Edwards: Will start Wednesday
Edwards is in the starting lineup for Wednesday's game against the Bulls, Billy Reinhardt of NetsDaily.com reports.
Edwards will make just his second start of the season after coming off the bench in seven of the eight games he's appeared in. In those eight appearances, the 21-year-old has averaged 6.8 points, 4.6 rebounds and 1.1 assists in 20.3 minutes per game. Both David Duke and DeAndre' Bembry will shift to the bench with James Harden (knee) also rejoining the starting five.... See More ... See Less
Nets' Kessler Edwards: Contributes off bench in OT win
Edwards tallied six points (2-3 FG, 2-2 3Pt), three rebounds, one steal and one block in Sunday's 121-119 overtime win over the Spurs.
Edwards was making his second appearance off the Brooklyn bench since exiting the NBA's COVID-19 health and safety protocols Dec. 31. Though Edwards capitalized on the minutes he received Sunday, the Nets were also playing without Kyrie Irving (personal), LaMarcus Aldridge (foot) and Joe Harris (ankle). All three should be back in action by the end of the month, which will leave no minutes available for Edwards and perhaps a couple other players, too.... See More ... See Less
Nets' Kessler Edwards: Clears COVID protocols
Edwards cleared the COVID-19 protocols and is available for Saturday's game against the Clippers, Alex Schiffer of The Athletic reports.
Edwards has been in the protocols for the past week but is now available for Brooklyn. He averaged 38.7 minutes in the three games preceding the absence but is unlikely to have a significant role now that the Nets have most of the roster clear of the COVID outbreak.... See More ... See Less
Nets' Kessler Edwards: Added to protocols
Nets head coach Steve Nash said Thursday that Edwards has entered the NBA's COVID-19 health and safety protocols, Alex Schiffer of The Athletic reports.
Edwards was one of three Nets rookies placed in the protocol Thursday, with Cam Thomas and David Duke joining him. On a fortunate note, Nash said that James Harden, Jevon Carter and Paul Millsap all cleared the health and safety protocols, but the Nets are still without the league-required eight available players, which prompted the postponement of Thursday's game against the Trail Blazers one day earlier. Brooklyn is still tentatively scheduled to play Christmas Day against the Lakers, but Edwards presumably won't be available for that contest and is likely to miss additional time beyond Saturday.... Nets' Kessler Edwards: Nets-Trail Blazers postponed
Edwards and the Nets won't play the Trail Blazers on Thursday after the NBA postponed the game due to Brooklyn not having the league-required eight available players for that contest.
Even after the NBA postponed its most recent two scheduled contests for Sunday and Tuesday, the Nets won't return enough players from injury or COVID-19 health and safety protocols five days after their last game. Before Brooklyn's shutdown, Edwards had been one of several young players who had seized hold of a larger role due to the number of absences on the roster. He logged 30-plus minutes in each of the Nets' last three games, averaging 11.7 points, 7.3 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 1.7 three-pointers, 1.0 steals and 1.0 blocks over that stretch. Brooklyn's next game is set for Christmas Day against the Lakers.... See More ... See Less

Edwards supplied 17 points (7-12 FG, 3-6 3Pt), 10 rebounds, two assists and two steals over a whopping 44 minutes during Tuesday's 131-129 overtime victory over the Raptors.
Edwards, a rookie second-round pick, had played just 12 minutes in his NBA career prior to Tuesday's overtime thriller. He is likely to be buried on the Nets bench as the roster overcomes multiple players in the COVID-19 protocol, but it can't subtract from his performance Tuesday. Edwards is a name to remember speculatively.... See More ... See Less
