Angels' Brett Phillips: Outrighted to Triple-A

Phillips cleared waivers and was outrighted to Triple-A Salt Lake by the Angels on Wednesday, Taylor Blake Ward of The Sporting Tribune reports.

Phillips has the option to reject the outright assignment and elect free agency, but that seems unlikely since it would mean forfeiting his $1.2 million salary. Instead, he'll almost certainly report to Salt Lake where he'll serve as outfield depth.
